The designation is wrong and will lead to further Israeli terrorism against Lebanon. Israel overflies Lebanon frequently and illegally occupies Lebanese territory. Hizb'Allah fights with the legal government of Syria whilst the UK, Israel and most EU States support the illegal militias. The designation is itself an act of terrorism. Hizb'Allah should immediately begin a campaign to be taken off the EU blacklist- along with the one hundred and sixty -odd countries which do NOT list it as a terrorist organisation. They should shame those 33 Zionism -supporting countries which do. Once again we find Israel at the heart of dissent in the world.

What interest does Israel have in Lebanon if it wasnt for Hizb'Allah ? we wouldnt even need to protect the water source if it wasnt for them or the former Palestinian terror groups there.

The designation is correct. randomly shooting rockets with the sole intent to kill Jews is terrorism. << Staff edit ~ Removed remark alluding to another member. >>

Israel overflies lebanon exactly because of the constant Jihad attacks. The legal government of Syria is the saddad regime which the overwhelming majority of the population supports, as opposed to the few Pro Jihad groups that form this so called 'rebellion ''

Marking Hizbollah as a Terrorist group is long overdue, and a small step in stopping the flow of money which is used to wage global genocidal Jihad.

Awwww mods are fast these days. Not as fast as the Iron Dome system but still pretty fast.

Lets rejoice that a Jihad group got on the list, despite all resistence from the left and pro Jihad forces ^^

Good news as they clearly fit the definition IE their refusal to disarm in line with the UN mandate and their overt support for the indiscriminate targeting of civilians and total rejection of any peace settlement with Israel.

Although the justification is very reasonable

i have serious concerns about how this will work

Maybe it is my southern mind but thinking of the current Spanish PM who used to take bribe money inside cigar boxes i 'd say that state officials will probably use the ban for personal profit.

That is complete and utter BS the unquestionable fact is that the Sheba Farms are Syrian territory and it has been proven according to the UN it is Syrian territory and Israel has fully complied with resolution 425; whereas, Hezbollah has failed to comply with the mandate to disarm along with all other Lebanese paramilitary groups.

The EU has , stupidly, provided the Israeli fascists with an extention to its despicable assassinations programme. When the neoZionists attack Lebanon again- as they now surely will- the resulting bodies of dead Israelis should be sent direct to Brussels for political autopsy.

The only fascist is the genocidal maniac Nasrallah who called for the extermination of world Jewry.

The key players who are initiating the war OF terror and declaring an organisation attempting to defend themselves against the said terror, a terrorist organisation. Truelly Orwellian. But then again, those who attribute to others the frankly meaningless epithet 'terrorists', do so for political reasons. Ask the average Russian citizen who they regard as the terrorists, for example, and you can be sure it won't be Hezzbollah.

Anyway, the "international community" supposedly representative of the these major blocs is in reality not so but merely a euphemism.

While I fully recognize the right to self defense and organized, armed resistance to other nations that attack you or your allies, while following the laws of war, I have to agree with the EU on this one.

Hezbollah did intentionally attack civilians in Israel , as was pointed out previously, and even admitted their motive was to instill fear in those populations. This at least occurred in 2006. They have also called for terrorism from others, and shaping children into warriors, for any purpose, current or future, is abhorrent.

In light of the EU decision to deny grants to schools in the Israeli colonies, it appears they are being objective about this, and in conjunction with other international peace efforts, are trying to marginalize and de-legitamiize the extremist elements and behaviors on both sides, which is a GOOD thing to do.

How much weight it will really carry is obviously debatable, but hell, it can't hurt. Good thread.

You can't expect Hezbollah to do nothing when Israel bombs the hell out of Lebanese civilian/government infrastructure. If Israel is allowed to terrorize the Lebanese population and destroy the country, then Hezbollah has the right to do likewise (keep in mind they are barely able to inflict the same damage as Israel does). More important though, its a tactic in itself.

Just keep in mind terrorism is what the other guy does. It's essentially a meaningless term used as a media trigger-point by the powerful for political purposes. It's the large powerful state actors, therefore, who get to abrogate who the terrorists are, which can then, never be themselves.

This deliberate failure to look reflectively, justifies (in their terms) all manner of politically-motivated violence, most of it disproportionate to anything undertaken by the far weaker official enemies' of the powerful.

The violence of the powerful against the relatively weak is thus couched in the phraseology and euphemism of 'war'.

So it follows, when 'we' instigate illegal acts of state violence, it's regarded as 'war', but when 'our' official enemies retaliate in self-defence, the euphemism 'terrorism' is prefered. In truth, 'war' and 'terrorism' are frequently used interchangeably.

As Peter Ustinov so aptly put it: "War is the terrorism of the rich and powerful, and terrorism is the war of the poor and powerless."

Then at least they're being honest, which is more than can be said for Israel. Israel must be the only country in the world that is ''defending itself'' every time it attacks another country.

Hezbollah may not be perfect, but the US and British governments deliberately bombed civilians in WW2 in order to ''instill fear'' in the populations of Germany and Japan.

Hezbollah emerged primarily in order to defend Lebanon from Israel, and the primary purpose of their extremely limited military capabilities - in comparison to Israel - would seem to be to deter another Israeli invasion.

If the EU was unbiased, they would be designating the ''military wing'' of the Israeli regime as a ''terrorist organisation,'' rather than Hezbollah.

I fully support anybody's rights to armed defense against armed attackers.

I don't support attacking civilians. I don't condone rockets shot into Israel, and I don't condone Israeli military strikes against civilian targets, or their troops shooting at unarmed protestors or rock-throwing kids. There's terrorism on both sides and I reject it on both sides.

Of course Israel are far more efficient at killing civilians, I don't dispute this.

Israel, for peace, can try leaving the lands of Palestine. For Hezbollah, or anyone else fighting Israel, while I don't want to call for violence, if they want to be violent, they should be fighting in an organized fashion, against armed IOF troops the occupied territories.

That's why I wonder why whoever shoots those rockets wouldn't shoot them at IOF occupation forces? Rockets are shot at civilians so far away that 99.9% don't hit anything, while the kids and teens are left to combat the actual invaders with rocks.

    I mean WTF?

IF you wanted to attack civilians, for your purposes, why wouldn't you target the Israeli settlers to make them think twice about moving in. It makes no sense to shoot rockets at the people that aren't actually invading.

Of course, one shouldn't attack civilians.

The terror bombing was started by the Axis, strategic bombing of enemy infrastructure is no indiscriminate attacks on civilians; furthermore, Israel does everything possible to avoid civilian casualties it is not Israels fault that Hezbollah intentionally intricates itself amongst the civilian population.

And by civilian/government infrastructure you mean legitimate military targets, and by bombs Lebanon you mean responding directly to overt and unprovoked Hezbollah aggression in the form of cross border raids, rocket attacks, and kidnappings.
