No not really, US likes to buy a lot of EU goods. You can whine and moan about it but besides producing better products there isnt a whole lot you can do to change that.

Oh, but we can! See we can close the deficit by imposing reciprocal taxes on folks with a trade imbalance.

We are fine with trade and are willing to do as much business with you as you are with us. But, as you can see, you really don't like our stuff, so perhaps the best way to balance is with less trade. Your call.

EU countries have leaders that face election too.
Some EU countries,eg Germany can't cope with a trade war.
Start one and the AFD gets into power.

BMW already produces in all the EU countries it wants.
If it exports from the EU to America, it is open to being tarriffed in America.

And as bad as any of these things will be for America they will of course be worse for the EU for the exact same reasons as they are bad for America.

The EU is picking a fight it simply cannot win.
It thinks it is in a position of domination. But this is self-delusion. It is not.

The greater it's arrogance, the more it will lose.
All other trade partners have offered concessions. The EU has offered a trade war. Doh.
Same old EU. Give a fool a long enough piece of rope and he will hang himself.

You want war with America. You will get it and you will lose it and no one will cry for your stupidity.

    You can if you like.
We won't be. We will be encouraging all the ones you kick out to set up here.

Don't expect the other EU countries to follow your lead. Your economy is going to the toilet if a trade war kicks off.

Germany has a budget surplus. It has a lot more margin then the US with it 4-5% deficit under trump for 2018-19 (and thats with an economic growth of 3-4% any trade war bring that down who knows perhaps the worst deficit ever for trump )

Yep as I said, it will always be EU vs US

They wont be worse for the EU they will be about just as bad for both.

The difference is that in the EU they will be defending against a US started trade war and against idiot president trump.

In the US most will blame trump for starting the trade war and tanking the economy.

Its trump that is imposing tariffs with some BS reason, not the EU.

Its the US/GOP and trump that is starting a trade war for some votes in 2018/2020

    Germany's economy is export based.
It won't have a surplus in a trade war. It will have IMF.

Damage will be worse for the EU, because it has more to lose, is more fragile to start with and is also more vulnerable to division.

US economy won't tank. EU's economy won't tank.
Germany's economy will tank. I would also consider that Italy's is worth investigating.
Also take into account the UK leaves the EU. A large chunk of it's monopoly power is about to disappear from the equation. I strongly doubt the UK will participate in any trade war and if it does at all, I doubt it will be on the EU's side. The EU is hated here.

Trump is imposing tariffs for the same reason everyone else in the world already imposes the same tariffs. (Only higher).

EU is threatening a trade war to stop America applying the same tariffs the EU itself imposes. It is attempting to bully America and that is a blindingly stupid thing to do. America will rip the **** out of them. As by the way will the UK when they try and do the same to us.
Totally wrong approach to diplomacy. Totally wrong approach to America.

I´m happy you laugh, because James Cook from Apple is repoted to have had an angry emotional outbreak at the meeting.

You should also note, that evry tradewar between EU and USA in the last 20 years was won by the EU. Like when Bush put tariffs on EU steel and had to row back after losing infront WTO and heavy counter tariffs put on american steel.

The funny side effect is, that tariffs on EU steel are better for german car makers. The US steel mills dont have the capacity to produce steel in the needed quantity, so US car makers must import foreign steel, pay higher tariffs and because of this have a smaller profit margin.

You guys are goverened by an idiot.

Blah, blah, blah we will see. It is nice you believe the EU wins trade wars. Truth is the US has not had a trade war in the last 20 years.....

Germany is richer than ever before, rules the EU, is in a constant economic boom since 2009, has a 50 billion € budget surplus and record low unemployment.

Merkel made one mistake in 2015 when she let one million savages in who were escaping american wars. A mistake she corrected. Migration dropped by 96% since 2016. And your trump? Still talking about his wall? Why could Merkel stop migration within 6 months and Trump not?

Your president is a mistake. Reports say Merkel seeked no contact with trump since 5 months now. Germany and USA are core allies. Something like this never happened before. Are you celebrating that China wins over you?

    Are you tell
Are you telling me, Sobo, that in these times where businesses and governments dissemble and lie like mad, you still believe what they say??

I'm English, by the way. :)

Im a police apprentice and can afford vacation on seychelles, chile, peru amd this year australia.

My life is good and so is the life of my friends and family. My father had not that when he was my age. Being German is a gift. You have it better than 98% of humanity. Thats what im thankful for. That our nation is in the position to allow its people this status.
