How do you know that people died because of that?

Okay, so you acknowledge that Trump fans wouldn't have gone along with literally ANYTHING that Trump did.

It would have possibly made a difference to the seriously hardcore Trump fans, but you're forgetting that conservatives are much more anti-government than Democrats, and are much more into the idea of personal freedom, pushing back on the government telling them what to do. If Trump had adopted the mainstream position on masks, many of his loyal supporters and certainly many Republicans who don't really like Trump would have seen Trump as just another bureaucrat telling them what to do.

So you believe that — yes, some trump supporters would have been more willing to do what was recommended had he not bucked science.

    Thank you

I said that it's POSSIBLE. And you believe that — yes, Trump fans wouldn't have gone along with literally ANYTHING that Trump did.

Semantics aside, a few percent of 73 million is still a sizable number.

And my few remark was in regards to him trying to ban assault weapons. If you are going to use semantics at least do it in context. I have consistently said some in regards to the COVID precautions.

In summary, you seem to be unaware that conservatives are much more anti-government than Democrats, and are much more into the idea of personal freedom, pushing back on the government telling them what to do. If Trump had adopted the mainstream position on masks, many of his loyal supporters and certainly many Republicans who don't really like Trump would have seen Trump as just another bureaucrat telling them what to do.

I am aware of that, your summary is flawed.
If many would have still disagreed with the precautions but some would have accepted it.

Again, thank you for reiterating what I thought we had agreed to several posts ago.

In summary: no evidence that anyone would have done anything different if Trump wasn't anti-mask.

Nope, we only have assumptions, assumptions that you have already agreed with and most people with critical thinking skills would also.

Sure, but are you also assuming that it would have resulted in less death? I'm certainly not assuming that.

Medical evidence has shown evidence that the more precautionary measures that are adopted by more people the lower the risk of transmission is. You can see this in real time by looking across the globe. We have agreed the president’s actions caused fewer people to abide by these precautions.

    1+2=3

Irrelevant to the difference in number of deaths.

No, I have said that it's POSSIBLE that the president’s actions caused fewer people to abide by these precautions.

Transmission rates do not contribute to the number of deaths? I guess we can disband epidemiologists then.

But fine, it is “possible” that trump caused more people to die than was necessary. The inverse is less likely. It is impossible that he caused less people to die than was possible.

Thanks as always for this fruitful... discussion?... cheers

You are unable to determine the degree to which these people increased the transmission rate.

Anyone who didn't say anything along the lines of, that "they felt that if they disagree with the narcissist in chief with a fragile ego, they would be fired, so they had a fine lie to walk." And I'm guessing that is every single one of them!
