I Meta down at the Morgan Memorial My old gal Well she's not so fat and so not so rich But when she gets drunk she's a son of a bitch.
This forum is social media too. Every post is stored. Every post is linked to an email address. Every email address can be traced back to the user even if the IP is virtual. It's not worth worrying about as we are all too small to matter. When MySpace, a similar site to this one, was hacked all our emails and passwords were stolen. I still get warnings about my old MySpace PWs being breached
What a lame name. Renaming is stupid, but then they chose a bad one. Facebook is boring. I don't get the appeal of social media. I mean, I see how it could be useful to reconnect with somebody, but to actually spend time on it. Na. Have seen the word a million times in gaming but never knew the acronym. Today's meta is tomorrow's nerf.
In a loose sense, yes. PF's business model is far less invasive and despite some minor concerns around specific moderation actions, they don't control what I see. There is no algorithm, I check each forum at my pleasure.
It looks like Facebook has reached the point where it wants to diversify into different things through a parent company. This also happened to Google into Alphabet.
Facebook is just women posting pics of their kids. Its like the 80's photo album for the world to see, boring asf.
I think the renaming is about trying to get user's back we both been leaving that platform and it's shrinking.
I'm just curious: What happens to a person's social media records after they die? Are the records saved?
US law, even if the person has died, for a minimum of two years all social media, telephone calls, emails and internet searches are stored. Virtual IPs can hide some of this but can still be traced. This even applies to me living the UK due to a worldwide agreement under the disguise of anti- terrorism. With social media even deleted posts which cannot be seen by other users will still be saved for two years. A dead person's social media page will stay until a family member requests it to be taken down and content will be completely removed two years later There is one poster on this forum, and linked to 4chan, that carried out a mass shooting few years back whose posts can still be seen, can't remember his name though, someone else might. I think he killed himself in the process of his murders. EDIT: poster's name was Rusty Houser but looks like his profile page has now been removed Http://www.politicalforum.com/index...robbery-suspect.464457/page-3#post-1066386995
If I were to delete my Facebook page and never re-open it, would Facebook still keep a record of my account?
Just an update on what I posted above. Looks like some amendments have now been made to The Patriot Act in that phone records and text contacts are now kept for one year though according to some, those records are being abused by the NSA. Facebook keeps personal details for 30 days after an account is deleted but does keep some other details forever but says that the ID is not saved - The Patriot Act did allow all records of digital data to be kept for 5 years https://www.techhive.com/article/20...ds-and-stores-every-phone-call-and-email.html
This is the only forum/media I use. Anonymity is vital to discussion and the search for truth. In the initial years of FB, I would participate in political/philosophical discussion on the platform. I quickly learned that PF was a better place to hash out the truth, because I'm not as wedded to my ideas as I am on FB. For example: if I'm anti-Trump (which I was prior to the 2016 election), and I agree with a Trump decision, my friends list and my forever record of posts create a dynamic that inhibits my expression of that agreement. Social media that is tied to your identity as a person does not promote free flow of ideas; it does the opposite and leads to echo chambers and carved out niches of like-minded people devoid of differing opinions.
If only. Unfortunately, it's also Disinformation Central and a place to organize terrorist activities, as we've seen.
