If Zuckerberg wants to pay me a stipend out of his personal fortune, well, I tell ya, I won't object.

You could take every dime from those 4 people and set them to work in any industry they want EXCEPT the one they amde their money in and all would be rich again.

You could give one of the parasitic class $1 billion and they would be poor again. Wealth is as much about attitude as any other single factor.

"The Brookings Institution has spent a great deal of effort studying this issue."

"Brookings whittled down a lot of analysis into three simple rules. You can avoid poverty by:

    1. Graduating from high school.

    2. Waiting to get married until after 21 and do not have children till after being married.

    3. Having a full-time job.

If you do all those three things, your chance of falling into poverty is just 2 percent. Meanwhile, you’ll have a 74 percent chance of being in the middle class."

Oh they mean as an addition to the other social programs. I didn't know that. I was assuming it was the other thing.

Well, UBI just might work for the poor then. But we can't afford our existing social programs now. I don't know how it would be possible to run a UBI, and no one knows, so it's just an impossible dream after all.

Its possible, but I think he would try the Obama model instead of the Trump model. If nothing else, just to be able to make the claim that his campaign is more like Obama and not Trump.

Im well aware of that study. I think married at 21 is too young though, as it is for kids. I would say no younger than 25 would be even better.

If a company can achieve the same productivity at 20 hours thru automation then why work 40 hours?

Because they can then hire less people. Hiring less people theoretically allows them to price their goods lower. Realistically it allows for a higher profit margin.

So goods cost the same, but workers make half of the money. This ends in a massive increase in poverty nationwide.

Edit: Products cost more, workers make half the money.

Why would goods cost the same? The market would adjust

As I already explained, more workers cost more money. 40 hours worked by 1 worker costs signifiantly less than 2 workers working that same 40 hours.

For my employer to hire a worker it costs over $4000 a month before a single hourly wage or tax is paid.

Well, welfare destroyed the family, morality and individual excellence of almost all whom it touched. So what could go wrong with Zuckerberg's enhanced model. Same decay and even more money, while further into the wilderness we go. The problem in America isn't a lack of money. The problem is a lack of values and ethics.

What if the government mandated the 20 hour week and that's all complies needed to get the same production?

Then you still have the same problem. Workers making half as much money and losing all benefits.

Edit, I understand that many of these issue I bring up are probably the same as they brought up over the years as work weeks shrank. I think the economy is much, much different now with global pressures that none of these earlier fights had to compete with.

Benefits and wages would still be the same. Remember the company is making the same amount of money

So lets assume that all goods stay the same price. You just have workers making half the money.

Without going into details, can you retain your standard of living if your real wages were cut in half?

Why would they make half wages? They provide the same value to the company. If they work one hour and provide the same value why would salary be different?
