Well, let me assure you against what your perception tells you. I do not know all the answers. If I did, I would be both famous and infamous across the globe.

Quantum mechanics has the appearance of magic, spookiness. But you label it science, quantum physics, and the magic becomes science. Still appears to be magic, though.

That IMHO appears to be similar to Murphys Law.

    I don't stutter!!

"Those who believe they have a personal savior who will come riding in on the clouds and that they will rise up from their graves and fly up to join him. THEN...to live in a gated community behind pearly gates experiencing total bliss for all eternity while those who disagree with their crap burns in a lake of fire and brimstone."

That's the story told in the new testament. Ever notice that a person is buried in Christian cemetaries with the face toward the east? That's where ol' Hey Zeus is gonna fly in from. It's in the scriptures.

    They're either brainwashed or idiots!!

Just because it appears to be magic, doesn't mean it is.

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." Arthur C. Clark

Of course, this all depends on your definition of magic.

Interesting whitepaper, though I do have an issue with Mr. Whitmore's three points:

Nothing says that the universe has to make sense to us humans and when it doesn't make sense it just means our primitive minds haven't figured it out yet. It is not proof, however, that there is some fantastical explanation such as a digital simulation or gods. The same goes for the "impossible".

I have corresponded with him, and we disagree about very little. For me, the "light bulb moment" was the double slit experiment, which is why I spent so much of my paper, which (I hope) I wrote to be understandable by Joe Sixpack. Once I realized that the behavior of the experiment could only be explained if it was being calculated rather than actualized, then I got it. And believe me, I spent YEARS struggling with that until the light came on. For better or worse, it wasn't until after that that I became aware that others are coming to the same conclusion.

Doing a quote of your former post does not resolve the question of who "They" are. BTW: No-one accused you of stuttering.

"They".....folks who believe a 2000 year old fairy tale about a "son of god," a "savior," a pal of theirs who will forgive them of any sin and save their eternal souls as long as they contribute 10% of their worth to his cause. Seems like ol' Hey Zeus is all powerful and in charge but he just can't manage money.

I don't know of any "2000 year old fairy tales".

I don't consider myself lost by any means. I fall into the category of believing that there MIGHT be some form of higher deity of some sort but I don't believe in it because I have seen no proof or evidence. I cannot sit here and say with 100% certainty that there is NO God because I don't know and neither does anybody else in spite of what we try to convince ourselves.

One thing that I do firmly believe is that the current versions of "God" whether it be Christian, Muslim, etc are probably wrong. I say "current versions" because to me that's pretty much what they are. Christianity is a fairly new belief system in the actual history of humanity. Other religious beliefs were here long before and for much longer than Christianity. Yet when Christianity arose all of a sudden that was the enlightened "truth" and all of the much older religious beliefs became false? Who gets to make that call?

Probably not. Most of them who say they are Christians have forgotten certain parts of what is required of them:

They don't turn the other cheek

They don't walk the extra mile

    They don't love their neighbors

    They don't love their enemies

They don't pray for those who curse and despise them

They don't voluntarily throw in their cloak after they've been sued in court for their coat

They lie just like every body else...they might call them little white ones but they lie

If they tithe they decide whether it's their net or their gross to base it on...most pick net..many don't even pretend to do it

They aren't perfect even as the father is perfect:

    Matthew 5:

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.

12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect

That would depend on how you are personally defining Christian and what personal connotations you are placing on that term.

Well, to show how wrong you are about me (if the statements were directed at me): I am perfect for the station in life which the Good Lord has placed me in this world, which station is revealed to me on a daily basis.... today serving this purpose, tomorrow perhaps another purpose.

Well, you expressed your opinion and Clarke expressed his opinion, so I have also expressed my opinion. Isn't it nice to be able to express opinions?

Your "Good Lord" is a 2000 year old fable generated by sheep and camel herders who were learning to deal with a developing imagination and who believed in witches and thought the earth was flat. I might also point out that they were afraid of the dark, relieved themselves on the ground and wiped on their hands. A real testament to the guiding light.

Then don't expect a response if you are not willing to define the terms that you are using.

I have seen several people on this forum refer to games that they perceive to be taking place. Yet I have never seen any of them with my own eyes. Are they located on a private section of the forum? Are participants entered into the 'games' by invitation only? How does one get involved in them?
