Yeah...Dems aren't trying to take your guns away. They're trying to prevent future generations from owning your guns and thier own guns. In effect reducing Americans Rights to own and bare arms via attrition. While leaving the government with all the power.

I am in favor for all assault weapons !! These long guns are semis not assaults !!!

    What Bill is this?

Going by your para they are trying to ban all semi-automatic weapons not just assault rifles.

    "bare arms"?

Nobody is "taking anybody's guns" and the bill has ZERO chance of actually becoming law.

Link is there in the OP, it goes to USA Today so this isn't something from some kook site. I made the thread on my phone so didn't get as much detail as I would have ordinarily given. It's called the "The Gun Violence Prevention and Community Safety Act". Here's the House version: LINK: H. R. 5717 and here's the Senate version: S. 3254

I was making the thread from my phone. Sue it. lol

Democrats are getting bolder and bolder about it. Eventually they will once again gain full control over Congress and the WH. When that happens expect something like this to pass.

Reading through the Houses bill now...looks like they want to establish a federal registry of gun ownership also...

And here's a tax added on...

This is aimed purely at law abiding citizens. Making guns and ammunition expensive so anyone that is poor has a harder time owning guns. Not to mention makes it harder for the ones able to even buy a gun train with it so that they don't shoot off their own foot. Of course when arguing this they will no doubt note that this tax is only aimed at the manufacturer, producer, or importer...totally ignoring the fact that those companies will just increase the price for the individual buying the guns or ammo.

Oh, and they're repealing the law that protects gun manufacturers et al from being sued and held liable for the use of guns by individuals...

In other words they want people to be able to sue manufacturers in order to cost them money and, no doubt, hopefully drive them out of business just trying to defend against lawsuits, even if those lawsuits don't actually succeed.

All the people I know who didn't have guns were trying to get one when the hysteria started. Of course the reps don't have these little commoner problems.

Yes they are, along with a lot of other things.
The Bloomberg wet dream bill was written and handed to the dumbest member of the current house of representatives (and that is saying something), knowing he would be too stupid to even understand what was in it. Here he is in all his glory?
Hank Johnson, the house member who thought Guam would tip over if too many people moved to one side of the island.

Sorry I didn't see. I really wish that linked phrases were red so you could see them in this forum software. It's why I won't often use them here.

Lots of semi-automatics have great utility in hunting. It can be argued they are merciful at not letting wounded game escape easily

I've never understood why some Dem bills on this type of thing go so far, but then again some gun advocates seem to think anything requiring a background check for a Bofors cannon :p is an attack on the Constitution so maybe it's a bargaining position.

Given our present circumstances I wouldn't even argue this type of thing. Congresscritters actually have IMPORTANT concerns right now.

And many years ago that was predicted, that "they" would try to take away our guns. If this legislation becomes successful, they have begun.

When Democrat "leaders" say they are not trying to ban guns, they are lying thru their damn teeth. Watch what they do, not what they say.

More fail inbound of the Dems. What absolutely horrid timing to try and convince people they have no need for effective firearms to defend themselves.

I support Americans' right to bear arms.

Americans need to protect themselves from criminals. (The cops aren't always available)

Americans also need to protect themselves from an Orwellian government who will arrest us and seize our assets in the name of some specious and (to the naive) noble sounding reason.

    Trump won't let that happen.
