Federal judge: Texas law requiring identification at polls hurts voters of color http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/10/...dentification-at-polls-hurts-voters-of-color/ ------------------------------------------------------------ The Texas law that was signed by Republican governor Rick Perry has been struck down by a Federal judge in Texas. It was aimed at preventing voter fraud, only that cannot be proven to have taken place of any great significance. Attorney General Greg Abbott who is running for governor of Texas wants to keep this egregious and hurtful law on the books that greatly impacts the elderly, the poor, and minorities and has even appealed to the Appellate Court obviously wanting to keep minorities in the minority category as well as keep the elderly and the poor down by making it harder on them to vote. The law that was struck down should remain Struck Down for the upcoming November elections. Anything less than that would constitute great unfairness to these American citizens.
The elderly who massively vote each election do not always have an ID due to changing laws and not being able to get out to get one or having to spend money to hire a cab to take them directly to where they could get one and they shouldn't have to go through that anyway as laws before these prejudiced, discriminatory laws were passed by Republicans were fair where they did not need to be encumbered by such stupid foolishness designed to keep them at home instead of at the ballot box.
Why did the republicans only in the last few years think it was important to have an id? How many years do we vote without them? The only thing the republicans have that can perhaps keep them with some power is gerrymandering and making it harder for non whites to vote. Pretty transparent what the republicans are doing, and trying to do. They know due to demographics they are toast as time goes by, and instead of trying to change their ideology, to appeal to non whites, they are acting like the mafia. Which they are pretty good at doing.
The Chairman has spoken and people know good and well that Republicans are the detriment of their pocketbooks and well-earned services. Therefore, those who are not independently wealthy will immediately KNOW that their vote for a Republican would mean less money in their pocket and CUTS to the many services they currently receive or would be receiving under Democrats. Thanks for the opportunity to chime-in with the real differences between Democrats and Republicans.
