It would be nice if we could see the letter or a link. I do believe that this happened, but seeing the content of the letter would really help here.

It's no secret that Biden is gonna outsource a lot of manufacturing jobs to his China masters.
Its also impossible for this person to know who his employees are voting for (therefore this is NOT voter intimidation)
If he's giving a friendly heads up that Biden supports policies that may affect their job in a negative way, then what is wrong with that?

hmmm, wonder which is true, cause quitting will hurt his case greatly, if he was fired he has a much better case

it still seems like "voter intimidation", so there may be some issues for the corporation

"big Trump flag flying on company property"

that would not help the companies case

    this could go either way

one thing is for sure, when you are looking to get government contracts, best not to side with either party

LOL I see the news station has now deleted the earliest version of the story, publishing news about Smith saying he is quitting (for several reasons). The link now redirects to a completely different news item.

All the employees obviously knew that the "big boss" is a Trump supporter - the flag makes that pretty clear. I suspect that the flag is one of the reasons why Smith was thinking about quitting. However, I see no "voter intimidation" in the letter. It expresses a definite bias toward Trump's economic policies, but then suggests to go vote for whichever candidate each employee wants. The letter explicitly defends voting rights.

There's a lot more background detail to this story than any of us knows, but I expect that Smith's lawyer will try to make some "racism" argument along with the intimidation claim, and the company's defense lawyer will call the letter nothing more than an alert to employees about potential business conditions which are purely economic.

People in the purchasing departments of the government are supposed to be politically neutral, right? The buying process is to collect a certain number of sealed bids and accept the lowest priced bid.

supposed to be, Trump is definitely not, and sure many in those departments will say they are not, but are really politically biased

so as a business, best to stay neutral

the boss was wrong to tell his employees they would be fired if they did not vote the way he wanted them to vote

that was where they crossed the line

most corporations are very clear that this is not to happen or people will be fired

The letter did not say they would be fired if they didn't vote for Trump, though. The letter specifically defended individual voting rights.

Is is absolutely a terrible business practice to do things like these. The guy is advertising that he is a poor business man. NOBODY, let me repeat, NOBODY can know what the economy looks like next year, let alone two years from now. The guy telling everyone that he will make business decisions on gut feelings on who is in the WH, rather than on the state of the economy and demand for their products is advertising that he doesn't understand that he cannot predict the economy.

We know this from the stock market: Timing the stock market is impossible. Yet, many who think of themselves as smart try to do it every day. They don't know what they don't know. This business "owner" also doesn't know what he doesn't know, and in the process of stupidly broadcasting it, he alienates his workforce. Double whammy.

The government procurement paperwork to request bids from private corporations is all standardized bidding and fulfillment forms and instructions. There is no blank for the political leaning of the business's CEO.

LOL! It may be no secret that Fox News watchers think that Biden will outsource manufacturing to China. In the real world, it is multinational corporations who are doing the offshoring, who just got a HUGE tax cut from Trump as reward for the offshoring.

Meanwhile, manufacturing jobs have progressed no different under Trump than under Obama/Biden

But, keep up the fear-mongering, that's all what the GOP has left to turn this around.

you can believe that all you want, but if there is a choice to be made, it may be a biased one - don't need to fill it out on a form, it's public knowledge - this made the news

LOL, boo f***ing hoo, an anonymous "quantum nerd" tells a successful business employing 200 workers how that business should and should not be run, offering a bunch of boring generalities and platitudes in the process.

Libs, so little self-awareness, it's scary

PS a good businessman can anticipate the economic results of Biden's tax/regulations/environmental policies way better than a swampy ignoramus like Biden who has never held a private job in his life....not after he was a lifeguard in a black pool that is. Duh

He didn't state any definites about the economy.

He said with Trump's economic platform they would hopefully be able to continue as usual.

With Biden's economic plans, he said they could be forced into layoffs.

That is a very realistic business outlook scenario, but he didn't predict the economy in definite terms. All smart companies project sales and costs years into the future based on current and future variables. Politics, particularly taxation, is a big factor. Currently, a huge determinant in business projections is whether a president is going to open the economy up to help businesses stay in business, or to shut down the economy to "save people". The drop in air travel has negatively impacted DMC's sales. If military budgets are cut, that also will hurt the company's revenue outlook.

The fact that Daniels has built a long-standing profitable business indicates that his gut feelings, based on years of prior experience, make him a smart businessman.

Perhaps Smith should submit a resume to Expensify where his political opinion matches those of the CEO.

I believe it because I worked in a corporate Federal/State/Local government division for a while. I've seen and read the bidding documents and contracts required to sell products to government entities. So, yes, I will "believe that" all I want. ;)

Perhaps Smith should apply to the moderating department at Twitter. He can work with 100% liberals! There is a place for everyone in America to find a match between work and personal life.

Joe loves China and China loves Joe. It will be back to the same old globalist system which enriches our politicians and other countries' government politicians (and their families) at the expense of our working- and middle-class people and our families. All the reasons Trump got elected will be right back in power, after a brief and brave interruption in "business as usual".

It should be outlawed. If there is less money available to government that it wants, it should spend less. Debt and money supply expansions are not positive things. Smaller government is the answer to all of these issues but is opposed by everyone but me and a handful of other concerned people.

But it is ill advised. A business is entitled to a political position but should keep it to him/herself. The only political interaction I have ever had with my employees has been to allow them to go vote on election day. I only asked that they schedule a few at a time.

just because you were not biased, doesn't mean everyone is, Trump tried to put his finger on the scale a few times

if a trump supporter has to decide between a left leaning and right leaning corp of the same level, they may choose the trump supporter or visa versa
