So Florida is starting to turn from the Sunshine State to the Shoot'em up State.

It is going to be interesting to see how many people try and justify this shooting.

He was holding the meat in a deadly fashion and the old man was justified in killing him because when you hold meat in such a way it can be used as a weapon.

he'll walk free just like Zimmerman did.

I'm a 2nd Amend supporter, a gun owner and a member of the NRA. But I can tell you in my travels I have met hundreds, maybe thousands of people who walk around carrying a gun, talk smack about it (like here), and IMO shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a round much less a weapon. They're just too unstable.

Just calling a spade a spade...

And just a warning to all the responsible gun owners on the site...the freaks will queer the deal for all of us.

this dude is a nut case, but how its even close at all to Zimmerman is beyond all rational thought, sounds like some more straight up bs per the usual trayvon supporter.

but anyways this dude needs to be tried and hung for his actions, very much unlike Treyvon this true victim did not confront someone in a hostile manner and begin to pummel them into the ground.

    hang the shooter.

Welp, that settles that! Time to blame the NRA and repeal the Second Amendment.

I agree, so when will the real discussion be about the real problem, mental health, instead of the gun?

Apart from the issues of alleged culpability and the various defences that may be constructed to try to deal with it, the question of whether or not the general social climate in Florida is such that the stand your ground laws reportage has produced a general view that aggression is okay and that reasonable inquiry and actions are unnecessary now.

Everyone is edgy and frightened out of their rational wits -- and we all know why.

A case of mental illness. If he's found mentally competent should be executed.

I'm sure that nutjob owned the gun legally. If the NRA had its way, every nutjob would have a gun... a full-auto too.

Straight up murder by a crazy man. This is not unique to Florida and should not be in the Zimmerman topic.

    Legal pharmaceuticals most likely.

Seems a bit harsh but honestly if anybody can drive somebody to a postal moment it is a damn dodo... uh I mean a door to door vulture... uh I mean salesman. Or them damn religious nut jobs trying to force their beliefs on others. No means "NO"! Dagnabit. :roflol:

Like what do you mean ... these are the people conservatives and Lapierre say who can have guns as their 2nd Amendment Rights and who are entitled to kill-at-will under the protection of conservative and NRA stand your ground and self-defense laws ...

    Just like Zimmy

Good idea, why are we arming people with mental health problems. More importantly, how do you want to stop it?

I'm going to defend Roop. After all, he was just standing his ground and got scared. It's perfectly legal to kill somebody when a stranger approaches you on your property.

Wrong again, you are getting good at that. Repeal the 2nd A no, better background check for criminal backgrounds and insanity might have helped, I doubt the nutjob would have passed the second requirement.

That was a senior citizen in direct fear for his life, according to the stand your ground law he has to perceive a threat to be able to shoot and that was a lawful kill as the homeowner legitimately felt threatened.

Door to door salesman come on peoples property all the time, and its very hard to distinguish if their bad guys or good guys because they are plain clothes and don't identify themselves immediately such as the Postal man who wears a uniform.

Zimmerman was not justified because one he was not on his own property, and two he racially profiled someone in the general public to shoot. This incident has the protection of the castle doctrine, which gives more privileges of protection than the stand your ground law.

May his soul rest in peace. May whatever god he believe in look after his soul. Let's hope that something goods comes of this, so that something like this doesn't happen again.

Hope this incident teaches young people who can't find jobs not to take these kind of jobs that are an irritant to the general public.

Door to door sales is even worst than telemarketers, they come on your property to badger you and even though times are hard, young people can find better jobs if they roll their sleeves up and get dirty.

These days young people are always looking to make quick money instead of doing an honest days work, and sometimes this is the result.
