a federal judge ruled that at least 4,000 voters whose mail-in and provisional ballots were rejected because of issues with their signatures may be given two days to resolve the problem and have their votes counted.

Specifically, Walker noted that while the deadline to submit a mail-in ballot was 7 p.m. Election Day, the deadline to “cure” a mismatched signature was 5 p.m. Monday, the day before — meaning those voters not notified, or notified too late, had no recourse.

The recount is scheduled for 11-hour days Friday and Saturday, with two 30-minute breaks each day. The deadline is noon Sunday.

“The table participant stays all day,” the instructions say. And that’s not the only rule for volunteers working the recount: No phones at the tables. No pencils or pens. No food or beverages. Hands must be lotion- and oil-free in case of accidental contact with ballots.

Who is making these voting rules? Do they know how to use calendars??

What a freaking mess... People talk about California breaking off into it's own country... I suggest we give Florida back to the Spanish even up for Rafael Nadal....

However, with all this mess, I'm aware of only 1 proven example of illegal voting in Florida, and that's ballots accepted via EMAIL in Bay County.

    Thoughts?

The Political Path Forward in Florida
    By J.B. White| November 14th, 2018

    Gov. Scott's lawsuit:

Despite the fact that all unofficial returns shall be submitted to the Department of State as required by [statute] by a certain deadline (i.e., noon today), Defendants proceeded to count additional ballots after the noon deadline (hereinafter referred to as the “Illegal Ballots”) and after submitting their unofficial return to the Department of State (the “Unofficial Return”).

    https://rickscottforflorida.com/wp-...&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Press_Outreach

The Elections Canvassing Commission canvasses the returns of primary and general elections for all state offices, presidential elections and U.S. congressional elections. The commission also determines and declares who is elected and makes and signs certificates of election for state and national offices, per section 102.111, Florida Statutes.

Kris Kobach, former head of the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity, in shutting down that commission the President did not shut down the voter fraud investigation or suggest that voter fraud is a non-issue. He merely turned it over to the Department of Homeland Security.

Kobach said, “DHS knows the identity of everyone who has green cards” and temporary visas, and that to compare those names to state voter rolls would be ‘immensely valuable."

I don’t understand why the same group of people that are so up in arms about illegals stealing their votes (only a handful of cases of this) but are perfectly fine with purging 4000 people because a hyphen in their name is missing or closing entire polling stations, exclusionary voter ID’s and massive gerrymandering?

Oh yes I do, they don’t care about voters or the country — they care about party.

Florida will continue to vote, find votes and count votes until a democrat wins.

Altering ballots takes time. They should be ready to be counted in a week or so.

.... and handful? You clearly are ignorant on Dornan vs. Sanchez and the hundreds of illegal votes discovered, but no one ever paid a price for subverting our elections.

Oh I completely support throwing those individuals in prison. Hell, revoke their citizenship even. But even hundreds of illegal votes pales in comparison to tens of thousands being voided by the cons.

I support one citizen = one vote = one voice.

It is not all of Florida which is the problem, it is primarily Broward and Palm Beach counties, both of which coincidentally are considered Democrat "blue" counties (and both counties went for Clinton in 2016 also.) In Broward County, which has gotten the most bad press in this vote counting debacle, Democrats outnumber Republicans 2 to 1.

The rest of Florida seems to have its sh*t together ;)

I don't disagree with most of that, but some of these are statewide issues as well...

How can the deadline to "cure" the signature on your mail-in ballot be BEFORE the deadline to submit a mail-in ballot?? I don't care if it's a D or T responsible for that rule... it's nonsensical...

Governor Scott could have removed her, but I believe she holds an elected position. I can imagine the uproar from the left if a black Democrat woman (in a heavily Democrat county) were removed by a white male Republican governor. Nevermind that her problems go back more than a decade, sigh. (For what it's worth I think she should have been removed also, but I can imagine concerns over optics.)

Delusional on the part of the far right.

The political demography is changing, and the GOP cannot cheat fast enough to hold it off forever.

The "red" counties seemed to handle their voting just fine. It is the "blue" counties which are at the center of the controversy.

Also, there is a reason Florida is often considered "purple" ---- Florida is roughly 37% Dem, 35% Rep, and 26% independent. No party really has a stranglehold on the state. And we independents are a force to be reckoned with here.

Thank goodness. But the governor for eight years has been GOP and those counties are still messed up.

And, regardless of what you say, you can't stop the change of the political demography.

"Regardless of what I say"? I never said you could stop the change of political demography, so you're sort of arguing with yourself.

I'm a lifelong native Floridian. Most recently it has been interesting reading the impact the influx of Puerto Rican hurricane refugees is antipated to have on Florida's voting demographics. I worry for my state if it shifts "blue" (and the prospect of Gillum as governor was terrifying) but in the gimme world we now live in everything seems to be slowly moving in that direction.

Scott was actually a good governor, and is a good guy. I want him to defeat Nelson not because I have any big complaints about Nelson, but because I like Scott better.

As for your comment about the GOP governor not "fixing" the problem (Snipes) in "messed up" blue Broward County, I already replied to that in a previous post.

Now, a new report shows ballots were inappropriately altered and the Florida Democrat Party is the likely culprit. From POLITICO (bolding is mine):

The Florida Department of State last week asked federal prosecutors to investigate dates that were changed on official state election documents, the first voting “irregularities” it has flagged in the wake of the 2018 elections.

The concerns, which the department says can be tied to the Florida Democratic Party, center around date changes on forms used to fix vote-by-mail ballots sent with incorrect or missing information. Known as “cure affidavits,” those documents used to fix mail ballots were due no later than 5 p.m. on Nov. 5 — the day before the election. But affidavits released on Tuesday by the DOS show that documents from four different counties said the ballots could be returned by 5 p.m. on Thursday, which is not accurate.

Audio of a Florida Democratic Party caller leaving a voicemail message asking a Palm Beach County voter to fix their vote by mail ballot after Election Day, which is not allowed, was also sent to POLITICO separately. It was not part of the information turned over to federal prosecutors......snip~
