I have crossed the border (to Canada) over 20 times (in the last 12 months), I just showed my ID (and proof of citizenship), and I was never stopped (searched, or even asked to exit my car/open my trunk, etc.) even one time.

Just common sense if we're going to have a licensing system to make guns radioactive for bad guys. We bring about a modest amount of protection for all of us from damn stupidity.

 

This is another one of those "alternate universe" situations; abundant coverage on media of gun use, statistics showing everyone has a gun, hundreds of millions of powerful firearms all over the place, but I've never personally even seen someone holding a firearm (since military service).

I wonder whether my fellow posters here have ever seen someone using a gun (not on TV or the movies).

They're corporate types making money as much and as fast as they can, no different, better or worse, than other businesses. As with all businesses, if we don't like what they're doing, we can either leave it alone on an individual basis or regulate it on a societal level. There are decent people in Hollywood, but there are bad actors (pun intended) like Harvey Weinstein and people who make gratuitously violent films.

I'm not sure I agree on some of the details, but we definitely have a poor people problem that I think is getting worse. It's pretty obvious that American business is focused on international profits regardless of the consequence for Americans.

 

Aside from the silly ad hominem nonsense. Is it supposed to be harder to smuggle guns than tons of illegal drugs, por millions of illegal aliens? Not yet. If it ever becomes difficult to smuggle guns over the border they can be easily manufactured by anyone with a work bench and access to a hardware store.
