Good for her. It's ridiculous for a school to fire a good teacher over a teacher having premarital sex 3 weeks prior to her wedding. I hope she wins.

Private school, with MORALS STANDARDS that are AGREED TO in the employment contract. She hasn't a leg to stand on...legally.

That said, I would like to see a more forgiving attitude in a Christian school,as they did get married...but that's just my opinion...

If she had quit because her boss turned out to be practicing activities that were not in line with her values or that of the school, would it be appropriate for the school to sue her for leaving?

If this were public school then it would be total bull(*)(*)(*)(*), but she went to work at a Christian school and signed a contract.

This is something I would not do. I won't even work places that require a drug test because I feel its an invasion of my privacy. However, like Grok, this is a frickin' "Christian" school...where's the forgiveness and charity!?

Yeah, I agree. She hasn't a legal case, IMO, but it's a great opportunity for the school to make like Christ did when the Jews were getting ready to stone Mary Magdelene, and I hope they see it.

However , at this point, the situation is probably unsalvageable, unfortunately....

Legally I think the school should have the right to fire her. But.....I don't have a lot of respect for this school's attitude. She married---and isn't in any way promoting something immoral. The school acts like sinning only happens with some people.

Yeah, what you and Grok said.

Reminds me of what I once heard a priest say during a weekday Mass when I went to Catholic church. Weekday mass goers are usually pretty hard core Catholics.

He said: "It's important to remember that it was very religious people like us who crucified Christ". For some reason, I always remembered him saying that. I sense there may be that same holier-than-thou attitude at work in this firing.

Amen to that. My point exactly. Were I the head administrator there, I would have kept it quiet, and trusted in the couple to assuage anyone else's concerns, after their marriage.

It is a private school so they should be able to do what they want but this is even more proof that religion turns people into complete retards.

Could well be; people in positions of authority often get caught up in "trivial crusades", and this is one of them, IMO....

    Probablya board member going gaga....

Yet, somehow, the "retards" manage to get between 80-95% of charitable donations to the ACTUAL PEOPLE IN NEED, as opposed to the 15-40% common in secular, and government charities.

I guess the "retards" got something right....it's that accursed "helping others" crap,again....

You do not understand an employer's right to hire people who agree to their terms in contract, and then violate those terms.

I wonder what they would have done if the child came out a different color than the father and was conceived during the marriage?

You do not understand the power of good role models, and the teaching of structured principles. That people fail them on occasion - or even regularly - is not the point, in much the same way that the journey is the adventure, and not the destination.

That doesn't change the fact that this decision, based off religion, is completely retarded.

We seem to agree that the school is wrong. These kinds of idiots chase people away. Reminds me of a church trip once where they took away all the kid's CDs and wouldn't give them back. I went to get them back, and the music director said, "I'll give them back to you under one condition. You are responsible for what it does to your daughter." I said that I had been responsible for my daughter since before she was born and he would give them back or he would go to jail for stealing. I'm still pissed when I think about it.

I do think they have a right to fire her though. If she is a good teacher, it's their loss.

I was watching this clip from Maury, and it was this skank white chick, and her dumb white boyfriend- they have a kid, its black, and the babies name was Rayshaun, and they needed a test, and that guy was either the dumbest guy on the planet, or she was actually thinking someone was that stupid, or Maury is actors, I mean what white couple names their caucasian child Rayshaun?

I don't think we agree on what makes a good role model.

Something else about this pisses me off. What the hell kind of personal questions are they asking her when she goes to them for maternity leave? Did they ask her what position they were in when the baby was conceived? I'm quite certain they have an opinion about those things too.

They already knew she wasn't married + maternity leave = morals clause violation..legally speaking.

3 weeks. They didn't know. No one would know. They shouldn't have asked.

They knew she wasn't married; she ASKED FOR MATERNITY LEAVE= morals clause violation.

Non-pregnant women do not ask for maternity leave, as a rule.
