I need some clarification. I have constantly heard people belittle Ron Paul for his stances on foreign policy. I have yet to hear a single person explain why. The absolute most I have heard has been utter nonsense.

All anyone says is "What if Iran gets a nuke? What if they attack Israel? What if they attack us? Why would you ever vote for someone that would let Iran get a nuke? They want us dead and you would let them get a nuke!?!? If they get a nuke and we don't stop them they will destroy Israel and us!"

I really hope there is a real and logical reason other than those. Let's say they get a nuke. Then what? They use it on Israel? Not likely since that would mean the end of existence for the country of Iran. And yes, the leadership in Iran is smart enough to know that is what the outcome would be. Hell if they used it at all they would be destroyed. They don't even have a nuke yet and are well on their way to being destroyed.

Now I'm not saying I want them to have a nuke. I do, however, want the economy in this country to recover and the debt to be taken care of. We cannot afford to keep Iran from getting a nuke. Why spend billions keeping it from them when we likely won't pay a cent if we let them get one? If I had to choose between letting Iran have a nuke and fixing our economy you can bet which one I'm going with.

I would also appreciate it if trolls like dujac, MnBillyBoy, or really any one else that would simply reply to this thread with a mere "You're a nut" stayed out of this thread. That kind of behavior and attitude is not only unhelpful but it is childish.

Could it be that foreign policy is based on controlling the ME, due to its criticality when considering your oil security? Ron Paul's "don't get involved" stance, doesn't sit well with this as the US needs to impose itself militarily in order to maintain the flow of oil.

Why does the US need to impose itself upon the World in order to get Oil? How do countries across the Globe that do not use any sort of Imperialistic action get their Oil from the Middle East? Clearly the Market is still working and that belief that we need to be there to secure Oil routes is not a good answer considering the rest of World does fine enough without such actions.

The Us does not impose itself upon the world in order to get oil? We're not there to secure oil routes.

You're taking my entire response to a different person out of context... read Leffe's comments before you suddenly get up and jump at me.

Why do you believe the US Government is spread across the Globe?

I'm not jumping all over you; I was jumping all over the other person that had responded to you.

The US is spread all over the globe because we realize that with our #1 standing in the world both economically and militarily--that we can and do spread our good cheer, our good fortune, our food, medical, military when needed to oust dictatorships, and re-development skills to impoverished and oppressed nations wherever we see fit do do so, so as to provide freedom and the self help tools for them to become independent in their own right. Big oil is not a factor in any of our worldwide presense.

Israel has no oil. That's the first thing we should keep in mind when we're discussing our ability to acquire over seas oil while promoting a policy that infuriates all of the nations that have it.

A more non interventionist position opens the door for us to do business with the biggest oil suppliers in the Middle East on more friendly terms.
This policy of Israel sycophancy that creates hatred within the entire Arab world is not the way to keep oil prices low. We gain nothing but enemies and high oil prices and we get zero in return.

Let us take a more balanced approach to the Middle East and end this psychopathic neo-con strategy of putting our soldiers in wars that will kill them to redraw the Middle East around a vision for a Greater Israel.

Nobody is going to fear a bankrupt and broken United States of America.
These policies along with other policies are destroying us and opening the door for the rise of other powers. Perpetual pre emptive invasions under false pretenses, followed by endless nation building, is not sound foreign policy.
    It's destructive. Self destructive.

We can no longer sustain this irrational and over reaching Empire. It will lead not only to our complete collapse but it will create a number of enemies that will be circling us like vultures over corpse when that demise comes.

We need to return to being rational and withdraw from these completely needless military adventures in nations that do not concern us.
Our foreign policy has not been based on American interests, it has been based on the needs and desires of Israeli interests.

The people on this forum who hate Ron Paul and call for endless invasions of all nations under the sun aren't even in the military. They have no stake in the wars and nothing to lose. No son to lose, no daughter to lose, no life or limb to lose.

My question is how far will we go? Iran WILL get nuclear tech. Pakistan has it and I am sure N Korea will have no problem filling in the details. What then, do we invade, add more sanctions just like Cuba and N Korea, or what? Where does this all lead and what is our goal?

Good cheer from the barrel of a gun? Sorry I doubt we're they're there to cheer people up when we do so by force and kill innocents along the way. Are you a person who believes the end justifies the means?

Don't you dislike Obama for destroying the Economy...? Yet you think it's okay for the US to give Foreign Aid to other Governments yet, when US Government bails out Corporations it isn't okay? Because Obama is simply throwing out Corporate Welfare so far.

Again.. we spread our food around when we have people starving in the US and living on the streets. Why do you feel the US is obligated to feed, protect and fund the World yet, can go tell their own Citizens to go screw?

Medical supplies... same as Food yet, it's okay because you're making it sound Humanitarian it's alright to squander supplies.

Military? You mean from the same Government that has overthrown Elected Governments and replaced them with Dictators and is still funding Dictators oppressive to their people? Come now... We're not around the Globe to fight against Tyranny when we put Despots in charge.

Your entire claim that US Foreign Policy is there for Humanitarian Reasons when that isn't even close to what they have done and what they're doing now.

I'm really starting to view the main street Imperialists like Roman mobs cheering on a invasions that are being paid for by selling their winter food storage.
This is getting more ignorant by the day.

I really hope you are trying to be sarcastic. If not you have to be the most naive person on earth.

I tend to be sarcastic when I feel the need to squelch useless liberal talking points down to a bare minimum, however, this one hadn't quite risen to that occasion as of yet. Perhaps to get a real touch of sarcasm from me, you may want to first fill me in on this perceived naivete. Please be specific or I won't be able to promise you sarcasm in all of its wonderment. :)

Spreading good cheer sounds good and all but as the most powerful country in the world that just isn't the case.

Let's assume for a moment that really is the true intentions of our leaders. Is it not hypocritical for us to try and impose freedom on others? The imposition of freedom itself defies what freedom stands for.

And what right do we have to spread freedom anyway? Because we are the most powerful and we know that freedom is the right way and everyone else that disagrees is wrong and must be destroyed? The American Revolution broke us away from a government that was powerful and thought they knew what was best and used their power to impose those beliefs on others.

We also cannot afford such an attitude. We are broke as a country and in a time of economic crisis like this we should not be trying to spread good cheer at the cost of billions of dollars and the lives of good Americans.

    My idea of foreign policy:

Help keep Israel safe, keep an eye on terrorist organizations that want to attack the US or its allies, and leave everything else the hell alone!

Perhaps my definition of good cheer varies from your description.

Who is imposing freedom on others? Most if not all of these nations that we choose to intervene on have failing economies and an oppressed people at the hands of a dictator and or of an oligarchy. Many of these nations have suffered widespread genocide at the hand of their own dictator in chief. So I wouldn't call it an imposition (say in an Iraq) to where that genocidal killer Hussein got hung by the neck and the people there got to vote free without facing the point of a gun for the first time in their lives.

Again, America doesn't spread freedom or liberty to those nations that have zero intent to live that way, but we listen to the needs or wants of its people to see if there is enough discontent and possible uprising to overthrow their brutal government(s) before making the appropriate decision to intervene.

In a case like this I always feel the need to use the old Fram oil commerical as a base. As far as our foreign policy goes in an attempt to help countries/nations that are suffering inhumane and dictorial leaderships...."You can pay me now or you can pay me later", but the repurcussions of holding off payment till later wil hurt you big time and cost you ever so much more.

Someone just posted a video about 'liberty'; I believe its on this very forum. I suggest you view it. Its about 8 minutes or so long and well worth the refresher lesson about liberty and freedom, and kind of gives you why America is the world's foremost authority on and purveyor of both those ideals.

FP is about pay aid money to allow the US corporate monopolies to take over another country. That is the goal. Capitalize on the governments and people of other nations.
