WILMINGTON, Del. — Fox News and Dominion Voting Systems reached a $787.5 million settlement agreement Tuesday afternoon, the parties announced, narrowly heading off a trial shortly after the jury was sworn in.

“Fox has admitted to telling lies,” John Poulos, Dominion CEO, said at a news conference after the trial ended.

"Money is accountability," said Stephen Shackelford Jr., the attorney scheduled to give opening statements for Dominion on Tuesday.

Fox News, in a statement, said it acknowledged "the court’s rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false."

    ...
Fox has admitted to lying about Dominion.
Fox saved face by not having all their dirty laundry aired in public.

They still have the Smartmatic lawsuit to deal with.

"Fox has admitted to telling lies about Dominion and must face the consequences of spreading and endorsing lies."

Reuters reports, "Fox Corp (FOXA.O) and Fox News on Tuesday settled a defamation lawsuit by Dominion Voting Systems for $787.5 million, averting a high-profile trial putting one of the world's top media companies in the crosshairs over its coverage of false vote-rigging claims in the 2020 U.S. election.

"The settlement was announced by the two sides and the judge in the case at the 11th hour, with a jury selected just hours earlier in Delaware and the trial poised to kick off with opening statements. Dominion had sought $1.6 billion in damages in the lawsuit filed in 2021.

"Fox has admitted to telling lies about Dominion that caused enormous damage to my company, our employees and our customers," Dominion CEO John Poulos said in a statement. "Nothing can ever make up for that. Throughout this process, we have sought accountability and believe the evidence brought to light through this case underscores the consequences of spreading and endorsing lies."

Fox provided this statement. Warning: It is hard not to laugh at the deceitful, self-serving lawyer-talk.

"We acknowledge the court's rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false [Fox's biggest stars lied continuously and often]. This settlement reflects Fox's continued commitment to the highest journalistic standards [ oh, please] We are hopeful [we can be sure of that. This saves Fox a ton of embarrassment] that our decision to resolve this dispute with Dominion amicably, instead of the acrimony of a divisive trial, allows the country to move forward from these issues,"

Fox virtually admitted it was not a news organization. It is a source of Republican propaganda, and the truth is irrelevant.

Want proof? Fox's admirers on this forum won't say a word.

And yet it will likely still remain the “most watched news station”. To me that says more about how dumb the average American is.

They are not a news station. Most 24/7 reality tv media are not news stations.
They are propaganda for the like minded.

Fox just promotes lying to the extreme.

By most people's standards, that happened years ago. Most people know they've been lying for years.

The other lawsuit coming their way will only enforce how much they lie.

lol. the age of "propaganda and public mind control "began long before the 1950s. eisenhower era propaganda (the nuclear family, "in god we trust," red scare, birch society, etc) has metastasized into the extremely diseased society in which we live

It's funny you say that about boomers. I didn't realize how much my father-in-law was into FOX news. While visiting my in-laws, they had FOX news on and I made the comment "doom and gloom". Well, he proceeded to get so butt-hurt he changed the channel in a huff and got all quiet stewing. I honestly had no idea how butt-hurt he was going to get over a comment about FOX. Seems an odd thing to take personally. Oh well...ha

As long as it match's what they need to believe, they will believe anything they have to say! And look how well they parrot the lies, absolutely no shame left in them :)

It's no secrete that FNC followers are the older conservatives.. The interesting anomaly is, AS folks mature, they are also migrating to FNC..

    Wisdom or senility ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

For some...stuck in their ways? Plus FOX, I believe is the only conservative "news" channel on cable? So not a lot of options for the conservative crowd who relies on TV rather than being on computer searching out different sites. My in-laws aren't "computer" people.

My Mom was a staunch Democrat her entire life. Once she moved to Texas, she became so brainwashed with Fox News as that is the only network all the older folks in Texas watch, she has now become a ride or die Tucker, Hannity lover. She eats up and believes every horseshit lie that Fox feeds their viewers. I asked her if she remembered when she lived in Vegas, how disappointed she was in me when I told her I voted for Dubya over Gore and she thought I was lying to her. LOL When I talk to her now and tell her that Fox and Trump are full of ****, she gets sooooooo defensive and angry with me. LOL

So you think all cable news platforms who lie should be striped of their media credentials?
The ones who admit they lied because they settle their cases.

Fox lied and paid the price. Did anyone admit to lying and paying the price about Trump and the Russian collusion? Did Dan Rather and CBS pay the price when they lied about Bush? Dan Rather did lose his job. Point is, they all lie and they all slant the news. We have a media that lies to us and we have a government that lies to us.

    Some of that is true.
Because the real reason these 24/7 reality tv media orgs exist is to make money by selling ads by telling stories their listeners/viewers/readers want to hear.

And in the case of Fox and Dominion, they knowingly made false claims about Dominion. Paid a hefty settlement. Admitted publicly to making false claims about Dominion.

Allowed Dominion CEO to publicly claim that Fox made lies about them.

Since Fox was sued and settled their case for slander. I guess senile.
Since many did and still believe Fox when they said the election was stolen. Even after they admit to making false claims about it.
