The point is not that you should like Assad, it's that you should ask yourself why your government is supporting an intervention to help the terrorists. If you hate both sides you should be for disinvestment.

The "his own people" part is a lie. ISIS fighers in Syria are not Syrians but invading foreigners from nearby Sunni countries (Syria is a Shia country).

You need to remember that Ethereal don't even think the Kurds are part of the rebellion against Assad. All because they sided with Assad against Turkey in Afrin.

They only have a problem with the terrorists allied with Iran, apparently.
Ironically these are the more moderate ones.

    Minus the Kurds, Right?

    the Kurdish Democratic Alliance
    the Committees of Civil Society
    the Kurdish Democratic Front

Syrian opposition - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    THE SYRIAN DEMOCRATIC FORCES

Originally composed of the YPG and other allied units, this force grew out of resistance to ISIS. It was supported by the US and the West and received weapons, liberating ISIS’s capital of Raqqa in 2017. The US seeks to portray this group as a united force of various groups, as opposed to “Kurdish” which was its original YPG component.

    The People’s Protection Units (YPG)
    “The Kurds”

The YPG is the main Kurdish group in Syria. It is connected a political party called the PYD and Turkey accuses it of being part of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). The YPG has been successful in liberating eastern Syria. It blends a unique ideology that is rooted in secularism and more radical left ideas. It also controlled a section of Aleppo up until February 2018. It controlled the Afrin province in northwestern Syria. In January, Turkey launched a major operation called Olive Branch to push the YPG out of Afrin, accusing it of being a “terrorist” group. The US said it was not involved in Afrin and the YPG found itself fighting alone. In mid-February rumors emerged of a deal with the Syrian regime and pro-regime militias entered Afrin to defend against what they called “Turkish and jihadist aggression.”.....snip~

The "moderate" muslims the U.S. has been supporting are probably even more radical than Al Qaida. Anyway, Al Qaida is a loose network of several different branches and some of them are more radical than others, and they don't all have emphasis on the same objective.

Most of the rocket launchers Al Qaida has were given to them by the U.S. in the 1980s. (Noticing a pattern here?)

The US has been and is supporting the Kurds. They are hardly radical and nothing close to AQ.

For the United States, it is yet another complication in Syria’s seven-year-old war, and a reminder of how its Syrian Kurdish ally must at times make deals with Assad even as it builds military ties with the United States.

While the Kurds depend on Assad to reach Afrin, Kurdish sources say they also enjoy leverage over Damascus because it needs their cooperation to source grain and oil from areas of the northeast under Kurdish control.

A commander in the military alliance fighting in support of Assad said “the Kurds have no option but coordination with the regime” to defend Afrin.

The Afrin war marks another twist in the complicated story of relations between Assad and the Syrian Kurdish groups, spearheaded by the YPG, that have carved out autonomous regions in northern Syria since the war began in 2011.

For much of the war, Damascus and the YPG have avoided confrontation, at times fighting common enemies, including the rebel groups that are now helping Turkey attack Afrin.

But tensions have mounted in recent months, with Damascus threatening to march into parts of eastern and northern Syria captured by the SDF with support from the U.S.-led coalition.

Underlining that, pro-Syrian government forces attacked the SDF in the eastern province of Deir al-Zor, drawing coalition air strikes overnight that killed more than 100 of the attackers, the coalition said.

The main Syrian Kurdish groups remain wedded to their vision of a Syria where they enjoy autonomy in a form of federalism that is at odds with Assad’s determination to recover all Syria. .....snip~

    Because they're not.

Once again, people will have to make the difficult choice of whether to believe you or actual Kurdish leadership in Syria. No doubt many will struggle with this dilemma.

Those aren't the radical ones I was talking about. The Kurds are kind of only nominally muslim, or at least that's what they get accused of a lot by other muslims in the region.

Anyway, the U.S. might have to tone down its support for the Kurds so it doesn't upset Turkey.

Assad Bombs the Kurds: Implications for U.S. Strategy …

    www.washingtoninstitute.org/policy-analysis/view/assad-bombs-the...
In 2012, the regime even ... President Bashar al-Assad claimed that he had armed the PYD's military wing, ... If Washington begins to defend the Kurds against SAA ...

Syria’s U.S.-backed Kurds are getting indirect help from an unlikely source in their war against Turkey in the northwestern region of Afrin: President Bashar al-Assad.

Pro-government forces and Kurdish-led forces have fought each other elsewhere in Syria and Damascus opposes the Kurds’ demands for autonomy. But in Afrin they have a common enemy and a mutual interest in blocking Turkish advances.

Turkey, which regards the Kurdish YPG militia in Afrin as a threat on its southern border, launched an assault on the region last month. Seeking to shield Afrin, the Kurds asked Damascus to send forces into action to defend the border.

The government shows no sign of doing so, but it is providing indirect help by allowing Kurdish fighters, civilians and politicians to reach Afrin through territory it holds, representatives of both sides told Reuters.

Assad stands to gain while doing little......snip~

Except in the complicated political rivalries of the Middle East, where the enemy of your enemy may be the enemy of one of your allies, or a friend of one of your other enemies.

No, I'm saying the Kurds are not part of the rebellion, which is true. They've said so themselves. The fact that they are seeking greater political autonomy under a federal system is not tantamount to a rebellion. They are not trying to secede from Syria, nor are they trying to assume control over the central governance of Syria. Again, this is what the Kurdish leadership themselves are saying.

Well this refugee isn't the first to stick up for Trump. Nor will he be the last.

Syrian Refugee: I'd Love to Buy Trump a Beer - He Has a Bigger Heart Than Obama

Kassem Eid survived the 2013 Syrian chemical attack and for nearly two years lived in a constant state of war and violence. As a refugee in America, his heart longs for peace in his home land. After years of President Obama's reluctance to intervene in Syria, Eid is thrilled that President Trump is finally helping the Syrian people. Specifically on CNN yesterday, Eid said he would love to buy Trump a beer and sit down with him to explain just how badly the situation is in Syria.

You didn't debunk the Link with the Kurdish Leaders signing the Damascus Declaration....nor the link from Reuters this 2018.

So try again. As just saying you did doesn't help with your credibility issue.

Just like with AQ getting assistance from Iran. Seems you were wrong there too.

But then we know why.....It goes against your Narrative against the US.
