Wop comes from Ellis Island. It is short for without papers. I had an Italian friend and would jokingly call him a Wop. He would answer no I am a Deigo. It means they go.

You know as well as I do. Mexicans crossing the Rio Grande. But it refers to immigrants from a country rather than a race per say. Just like Americans are called Yanks.

Back on track with "Redneck Inventions"

And I do not care if some view this as "racist" every single one of these has a "what the.." flavour to it followed by admiration for sheer inventiveness

yeah, realy. calling someone a redneck wop or wetback regardless of of whather they are, latino or hispanic or italian is racist even if they arent, just like calling someone a cracker or redneck, redneck or ****** TODAY regardless of how it is used int he past is still racist. its no longer 1950. and how these terms were used in the past they can still be used the same way as they are used today regardless of how they are used in the past. just admit they are racist terms used by racist people like yourself.

Again: Redneck is just a racial slur. There is nothing subtle about it.

    "racial slur
    noun
a derogatory or disrespectful nickname for a racial group, used without restraint" Dictionary.com's 21st Century Lexicon
    Copyright © 2003-2014 Dictionary.com, LLC

    "Redneck
(US) Southern laborer-class whites.[253] (South Africa) Not to be confused with rooinek (literally "red neck"), South African slang for a person of British descent." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ethnic_slurs

Liberals, like conservatives, come in all colors and shades so "stooopud librul" is not a racist slur, but it is an ad hominem personal attack. Feel better? ;-)

I will make one more post on this and if it is so important to you I suggest that rather than derail THIS thread I will post a new thread in the race relations forum

    A) Racism usually applies to a racial group who are defined by characteristics out or thier control i.e. Skin colour, ethnicity etc. whereas "Redneck" refers more to a particular group defined more by lifestyle than ethnicity. If you take a "redneck" and dress them in "city clothes" would the prejudice be applicable? "Redneck" might have started as a "city versus country folk" slur but it has morphed into a running gag on whacky inventiveness. Yes there are lot of mixed in bits and pieces akin to "poor white trash" but again it does not define the entire white race.

A lot of what I have posted has been about the whacky inventiveness - and one looks at some of these and thinks of post apocalyptic America and wonders who will be the ones surviving best

Entrenched sanctioned racism is often passed off as a "a running gag on whacky inventiveness". "Eeny meeny miney moe...", and endless Polish and other ethnic jokes flourished as clever running gags until very recently. Read the definition of racist slur carefully and review the list of ethnic slurs assembled by Wiki.

As you know I have often "liked" the clever anti-Trump content you have posted here. I am not opposed to harsh partisan content, but I wanted to call your attention to the fact that racist and ethnic slurs are no longer passed over as running gags here.

But you can always count on me to support your right to post whatever the rules here allow - and I do not like any rules that restrict political speech.

Well in that case join me in opposing the hideous "You must be a democrat if" themes that are running through these threads because I cannot see a difference in "redneck' jokes and "Librul" jokes. I am more than happy to desist from posting those kind of pictures and only started as a "tit for tat' thing to show the ones posting the "idiot librul" jokes that what is good for the goose.........

This kind of racist cartoon often appeared in the Communist Party magazine The Masses. The CP and the radical Left has always been infected with that kind of virulent racism.

“Blacks, however, posed a special problem. The Socialist Party, believing that respectability and success were becoming attainable, virtually ignored them, and center-right wing socialists even acquiesced in segregation. As historian Ira Kipnis writes: ‘There is no record that the party ever actively opposed discrimination against Negroes from 1912-1912.’ even the party’s most popular leader, Eugene Debs, who defied social prejudice by refusing to speak before segregated audiences in the South, failed to see any need for special attention by the party to the plight of blacks.” Art For the Masses, A Radical Magazine and Its Graphics, 1911-1917, Rebecca Zurier, Temple University Press, 1988. p. 15.
