The “goal” was to allow gays to be legally married just like heterosexual couples.

Really? Not even if they are common-law partners?

I believe only 15 states recognize common-law partners.

As opposed to equality allowing all those prohibited from marriage to enter marriage. They made a special exception for the gays just because they are so special.

I quoted numerous state constitutional amendments which did so above, and you know that

    already done.

The amendments merely defined marriage as between one man and on woman and none of them prohibited same sex marriages. No one tried to stop them from marrying and no punishment was written into the law for them doing so.

they specifically ban same sex marriage, as I showed, and as you know perfectly well.

those states not only tried to stop them, but they DID stop them from marrying.

No, just irritated when people claim to be seeking equality when intentional discrimination for the benefit of gays being written into the law is there goal.
Heights of hypocrisy to argue that marriage never had anything to do with procreation and therefore the limitation to men and women must be motivated by animus towards homosexuals, AND THEN insist that two brothers cant marry because they might procreate with a higher potential of genetic abnormalities.

but this is a gigantic and moronic strawman, that you've had pointed out and refuted going back to 2012.

No idea what you’re going on about. All I know is there was no good reason to keep gay couples from legally marrying.

    Nonsense. Heres my states

Sec. 32. MARRIAGE. (a) Marriage in this state shall consist only of the union of one man and one woman.

No ban on other marriages. No penalty in the law for alternative marriages. Same sex couples continued to get married in texas and they simply don't receive the certificate from the state.
In Texas second marriages ARE PROHIBITED while the previous marriage is still in place. Considered a felony and punishable by 10 years in prison. THATS what a prohibition looks like

????? 50 states laws prohibiting closely related couples from marrying demonstrates its not a strawman. The hypocrisy of selectively clinging to your old testament prohibitions is showing.

PURPOSEFUL discrimination written into the law for the benefit of gays ISNT "equality". Equality isn't achieved by appeasing gays and is instead achieved when ALL people are treated equally.

Why don't you copy and paste ANY statute or amendment that banned gay marriages? NOT SOME WRITERS opinion about the law but instead the actual law.

Could same sex couples get legally married in that state? The answer of course was no. As they were banned from marriage, as your statute shows. It's why it went to court, where you lost.

that it has any relevance to same sex marriage, is the strawman. As you know perfectly well.
this is also a strawman. The court could only rule on the case before them. Which was same sex marriage. They could not rule on anything else. If you want to marry your horse, or your brother, take it to court. It's entirely irrelevant to same sex marriage.
