    You would be wrong.

Unless the rules of prison actually allow for gay sex (and they don't) then there is no discrimination. There is only a lot of breaking of the "no sex" rule between men.

Perhaps you should have made this your original post has it more clearly states your intention on this thread.

I think the biggest proponent of violence in prisons are the violent criminals that are imprisoned in them (irregardless of skin color). If we were to segregate by race rapes, murders, and riots would still take place. It would not solve anything. Race is just an easy way to pick teams, if you took it away it would be replaced by some other guideline to scout recruits for warring factions.

As stated previously, statistically an American prisoner has a 6% chance of being raped for every year he is detained. The prison can apparently do nothing to prevent sexual intercourse between prisoners, even when the sexual intercourse involves a crowd of 8 people and one of the participants is completely unwilling and has shouted for help!

Presumably, then, you would be in favor of real-life experimentation to determine whether and how much racial segregation would reduce prison violence?

Of course they can do something to prevent it. They can build enough prisons so that each criminal has his own cell, his own shower, and his own personal guard...

Or we can just stay the hell out of prison.

Four times the prisons and four times the costs. That is really good thinking when the prison system has no money now.

Which is why I say we should just stay out of prison. There is not a person over the age pf 15 who does not know the danger of being raped in prison. If that knowledge isn't enough to motivate them to stay out of prison.. why should the rest of us give a crap. They knew it.. they chose to be there.

It seems to me that you are essentially just ignoring the problem.

And it seems like you are essentially arguing the the prospect of prison rape is acceptable because it is just one more deterrent against comitting crime. Just because someone comitted crime is not legitimate justification to stop caring about what happens to them. And of course not all people in prison deserve to be raped! At the very least they should be separated into two types of prisons, one where all the inmates deserve to be raped, and another where stringent measures are made to ensure that rapes do not take place.

Four times the prisons = four times the costs that is the problem. What is blinding you to the issue that the US is broke and can't afford that. Besides the residents of prison put themselves behind bars and at risk.

The problem is that when black men rape white (and hispanic) men and give them HIV. The HIV spreads to the rest of society after the prisoners are released. This is a clear example of why the problems of one group of people should not be ignored, because it can effect everyone else in society.

In Georgia (USA), 86% of the prisoners who tested positive for HIV were black. source:

Or we could just stop screwing anyone who has ever been in prison... then no chance of aids transfer from there.

Pretending that a problem does not exist will not make it go away. Every year thousands of people contract AIDS that had originally been spread through prison rape. What goes on in prisons could affect anyone. You or your loved ones could be next.
