While you should be free to express whatever you feel like, true or false, entities should also have the right to not host content that is false and others should be free to fact check lies.

 

The number of fake Trump ads that possibly convinced anyone to change their vote, pales in tremendous scale to the manipulation of negative search results about Hillary, ect getting pushed down. I don't even know if I ever even saw a Russian FB ad on Hillary. But I saw non-stop ads/stories about Trump grabbing women's pu$$ies(LIES), how he was a rapist(LIE), hated this or that, and so on and so forth. And lets not forget how the MSM was in the tank for HIllary. Non-stop nightly blasting of Trump from all the late night talk/comedy shows. All the morning talk shows. Hollywood celebrities lying non stop, some even threatening Trump with violence, which went unpunished. Biggest papers in the nation blasting him and Conservatives on the front page and editorial sections.

Trump did a 1000x more negative things, so of course the media reported more negative things about him, sadly Trump is proving that being an immoral narcissistic lying pig with a fragile ego is exactly what some on the right wants in a President... Sad!

 

I don't think many wanted Trump at all. We all got Trump because of 8 years of Obama and how horrified people were at the prospect of Hillary, which meant another 8 years of Obama and worse. Trump doesn't actually lie any more than any politician. They all do it. Trump's are just unplanned Your standard politician lie, is actually pre-scripted, which makes it SO MUCH WORSE. And most of Trump's "lies" are inconsequential anyway. Nothing like Obama's you can keep your doctor and nearly every description of Obamacare. Trump's lies aren't costing $1 trillion. They just upset the SJW snowflakes. He just tells "truths" that many don't want to hear, so they call them lies, like calling **** hole countries, **** holes and calling Illegals who murder people, you know MURDERERS, and Terrorists, terrorists. Tamper is a loaded term. No machines were hacked. Every vote (putting aside rare cases of voter fraud) was counted correctly.

They "tampered" with the election in much the same way the US did with Yeltsin - by convincing voters to change their minds. With paid advertisements.

The unique aspect was the hacking of the DNC to reveal damaging info. This is indeed criminal and prosecutable. And those responsible should be prosecuted.

But New Zealand/Canadian/Austrian/Vietnamese/Russian/Nepalese citizens paying to air their political views with Facebook ads? Yeah, not tampering. Just political speech.

The purpose of the investigation was clearly stated in the directive that established it.

It was to determine the size and extent of Russian attempts to interfere in a US Presidential election and whether any candidate had knowledge or involvement in that effort.

It confirmed what was already widely know, that the Russians had been running a years long social media campaign that had reached most American voters, and that that campaign was harnessed to work to get Donald Trump elected.

The investigation also established that the Trump campaign had prior knowledge of the Russian effort, and did its utmost to participate in the planning and execution of the Russians attacks throughout much of 2016.

“Soft coup” is one of the most idiotic right wing meme ever.

But it came out of Trump’s mouth, so his mob parrots it. No thought process at all.

 

Of course, there was far more to the Russian effort than that.

It focused heavily on planting meme on social media and watching as influencers spread their message throughout the social media web. They planned it.

The also hired hundreds of people over several years to pretend they were Americans and friend people they thought would be useful in parroting their message. They understand the flow of gossip, which is what social media largely is.

And they worked hard at disguising themselves.

They created fake news websites to peddle racist, nationalist, and xenophobic themes to receptive right wing audiences and people in their social circles.

If you looked on this forum between August and November of 2016, you’ll see a virtual tsunami of this stuff, all gleefully parroted by the very people who are defending Trump and denying that they were useful idiots.

And now the noise machine has turned on a bogus free speech argument to defend the Russians in case they do it again. Trump and McConnell certainly won’t object.
