There are 435 districts which select their preferred U.S. Representative every two years. Having four or five districts vote for someone who appears to be a bit of an oddball is not abnormal for America as diverse as we are in different areas of the country. We've always had a few weirdos, but they were accepted because their one vote on a committee or in the House is not likely to make the "swing".

Perhaps, the largest difference is nationalism vs globalism. Given technology and population growth, laissez-faire capitalism based on national economies is dead. We're going to be pressured into a reevaluation of the value of labor. And, in some cases, yes, we are going to have to pay people to dig ditches and fill them up. Another basic difference seems to lie in environmental policies. Political rhetoric is free speech, and belief in conspiracy theories is not a crime. Providing direct orders to others to commit violence, when someone actually has the power to compel others to act, or making plans to commit a crime are not covered by free speech. Taylor has said nothing which could be misconstrued to break any law.

There are people serving in Congress just as nutty as Taylor who have said the same or worse things while they have been in office. I expect Republicans will go after their committee assignments in a couple years when they have at least a 50% majority in the House again. They shouldn't continue the death spiral in the destruction of justice, ethics and due process which the Democrats have started spinning the last couple of years, but they will.
