You mean a march to ban first person shooter games and requiring psychiatrists to get a second opinion from a real doctor before prescribing psychotropic drugs that is the common denominator among all the school shootings?

Now seems like a good time to revive this thread, especially when Trump and Republicans are pushing gun control alongside Democrats.

Cite the basis of such a claim.

    Intelligent background checks?
Does Trump plan on making the FBI more intelligent so the can do the check more intelligently?

I'm open to discussion, but most of the people promoting new restrictions don't understand the devices they want to restrict and don't understand the restrictions they are promoting. On those occasions that they do, the restrictions aren't typically material, such as limiting magazine sizes when a shooter can just side-stack if that's what they are going for.

As predicted, both of the authoritarian American parties are now gun grabbers. The ruling elite have no respect for the rights of the individual.

I was about booted from a firearm forum a few years ago for claiming Republicans would join leftists in gun banning when it was politically expedient for them to do so. Look at all the other leftist positions they have already embraced.

The truth? You don’t understand your right. It’s not unlimited, meaning, they can determine who, what, when, and how one can exercise that right.

Sportsman, hunters, and collectors should be banding together to figure out a way to weed out the irresponsible yahoos from the ranks of gun owners. They’re the biggest threat to how you’ll be able to exercise the right in the future.

The NRA and gun manufacturers have failed you miserably.

And the good people in the bad neighborhoods of our large liberal run cities should do the same.

That's not at all the truth. From your post, I understand the right much more than you.

Gun ownership is a property right, which is derived from my right to life. It is unlimited. The theory is that legal rights are brought to bear to in order to protect one's right to life, including property, but that theory has been disproven.

What an idiotic thing to do to compare the number of homicides with the population .

So you're trying to prove that the population increases faster than the number of homicides?

The fact that gun nuts have to resort to absurdity like this clearly indicates that they have no rational arguments to justify the insane gun epidemic that they have created.

By this logic...there is no need for guns for self defense then

Happy to read this again. Very good and cogent summary. To add to your thoughts, when Sen Feinstein was designing the assault weapons ban of 1994 she said that eventually she would get all the guns. She also choose "assault weapons" on their looks, looking through catalogs. Democrats rationalize their demand by ignorantly assuming that mass murders start with a guy finding out he can get a gun and so then decides to go shoot a bunch of people. In reality of course the future mass murderer develops that mindset through psychosis or some other egregious mental derangement. Then he figures out that a gun is the easiest. But guns are not the only assault weapons used. Knives are quite common. Trucks are not uncommon. in fact, IIRC, the largest mass murder in the US was done with dynamite.

Bottom line the gun control advocates latch onto anything that the uninformed might accept. They have little interest in knowing gun control will have no effect on mass murders. They simply don't want (other) people to have guns.

One of the major reasons for being armed is supposedly self protection.

We have gun nuts telling us that there is no danger...which means we have no need for guns. I agree. The biggest threat comes from the people with the guns

No one said there was no danger. What the OP said is that there is not a gun death crisis in this country as you left-wingers constantly claim.

One still needs a gun for self defense against muggers, carjackers, rapist, thugs, etc.

    Try to keep up.

They are already outlawed. Semi-automatics, one squeeze, one shot fired, is a general definition of a gun. Democrats like to call them assault weapons if they have protection against the user burning him or herself. Remember one thing. Democrats lie like cheap toupees. If we give them red flag, everything will be a red flag ,,, except Fredo threatening to push a man down a flight of stairs. If we give up assault weapons, everything will be an assault weapon.

    According to the FBI:
403 people were murdered with rifles in 2017.
1591 people were stabbed to death

Who is advocating that we ban silverware?

Trump is known to bait Democrats by offering the universe and observing where they end up. I would support something that can't be expanded ,, like background checks for gun shows. Red flag, assault weapon laws would be disastrous. Trump knows who we're dealing with. I doubt he will give them free rein.

You mean he can't negotiate like a normal person because he's inherently dishonest?

    I agree

Nope. He starts the negotiation by finding out just how dishonest the Democrats are willing to be on a given subject.

    I have an idea!

Instead of a gun ban Nationwide, let's try gun control in a large Urban areas and see how that works!

How about Chicago to start with?

So I'm supposed to be comforted by the fact that Trump is a known liar?
