Sorry. The government can do it unless it's specifically prohibited

What ruling are you speaking of? That sounds to me like legislation.

Some voting base they've established. They can't get any traction in voting booths.

As a community with a moral component, we do not deny medical care to those in need, even if they cannot afford it.

As members of that community, we share the cost, along with other democratically agreed upon costs.

If anyone does not like how the community does things, they are free to propose alternatives or leave it and go elsewhere.

Scotus has declared that every child in this country is entitled by constitutional right to a free and appropriate education. Actually several times

You may feel that anyone with a serious disability who is unable to contribute to society should be consigned to death, but that is not what society has agreed upon. If you don't share society's moral commitment, society won't mind if you go away.

The only right one truly has in this world is might or brains to overcome someone else's might.

For civilized worlds, they try and rely on society. Typically some gov't. With laws to protect one's rights that the society deems pertinent.

It can do anything it wants, so long as nobody complains about enumerated powers. I can see you're the type that doesn't care.

I agree that we shouldn't let the disabled get sick and die, but what about leeches/free-loaders? People who can work but refuse to. And what about people who make very unhealthy choices, such as eating a lot of junk food, smoking like a chimney, using hard drugs...etc. People should not have to pay for these people's healthcare costs. It just seems unfair.

Then you have no problem making your case showing all of us those rulings. I think you might wish to hurry it up a bit since you made those claims.

How many times, as a poster, have you reversed course due to reading what others told you? I tend to doubt you have.

Not at all! You can put them up at your house. Does your sofa fold out into a bed? I've slept on a sofa before, but since you're being so generous, you might want to consider the comfort of the disabled you have decided to help out.

Oh wait a minute... you're saying that society has agreed to help the seriously disabled. You mean some in society, or all of us? If all of us, I think you might be wrong there. I know several individuals who are struggling to make the ends meet, and they simply can't afford to help others at the moment.

But fortunately you have a sofa and a free place at your dinner table to help those who are disabled out.

Who didn't have "access" to health care before the ACA?

    No one - that's who!

We all had "access". No one could be denied in the event of emergency - and routine/non-urgent care was always available...just at a cost - like everything else.

We are forced to buy auto insurance - but we don't subsidize that based on income, do we?

No - we don't. People pay according to factors like location (higher or lower risk of accident), age (limited driving experience/higher potential risk) and their driving record (higher demonstrated risk).

Why should health care be any different?

PBS today had part of their show devoted to a man who had cancer surgery this past december who came from Afghanistan but collects monthly to take care of children who are soon to die. They never told us his monthly earnings but when he got Cancer the word was put out and per today's show, he has well over $200,000 collected and I suspect this TV show was to get him even more cash. But the apartment appeared to me to be a quite nice place to live.

It's great he cares for terminally ill kids, but it goes to show how much the public cares and there are no laws forcing the public to care and send him cash. My major objection to taxes is they are long since gone off the chart and are so out of control the public seems to have lost all hope. We are beaten down by taxes. Not only Federal taxes, but taxes everyplace you look.

I want to junk the present tax systems of this country and use a simple but fair tax. Called the FAIR TAX we pay as we purchase. We don't need to report to the Feds our personal information.

Try explaining that to the tax collector when she/he comes looking for your school taxes. :)

Rights are constructed by Humans, and therefor are subjective.

It's not my water, it's anyone's to use who want the drill their hole deeper and tap into it. No one (at least where I live) can be denied drilling rights as long as it's on their land.

None since I cannot enter your property without your permission; I'd be best going off to see my doctor and having him write a prescription for some penicillin.

Thanks for a perfect example of the morality of the left. When talking bout rights, we are talking morality, and your version of morality is that the tax collector coming to take people's money away is a good thing, rather than a very unfortunate and hopefully temporary situation.

Which is why the left and the right hate each other. We don't want to pay taxes, and you demand that we pay taxes.

This is true, however it's also true some people lost their savings to pay until they lost everything, before the government would pay.

Human rights are those which are innate to human existence, thus you do not have a right to anything that is external to yourself.

Why worry about the government, when the Community Rating Scheme used by many health plan providers rapes the young and single people to subsidize married couples, "families" and older people.

    - - - Updated - - -

I believe the States and the federal government need to undo the 1,000s of regulations that drive up the cost of health plan coverage.

So you're for enslaving healthcare providers?

    How's that work?

If you were to pay no taxes who is going to show up if your house catches fire, or you call the police for whatever reason or educate you children or any of the numerous other services you receive from the various governmental agencies??

I cannot speak for you but speaking for myself, I hate no one for their political viewpoints or convictions but your response is typical of someone who is not being realistic; it sounds like you don't want to pay for services but that's not how its done because it is not feasible, but you fail to realize that.
