What would be the precedence of a horrific act if it's left being tolerated and not condemned? how could we defend humanity against such horrendous act when we are just bound to forget it? I have a very good guess, it will repeat itself.
The exact nature of Holocaust is being debated. Your side wants to shut down all debates by declaring that your opponents are criminals.
The key is always the man himself Hitler, he made speeches before. Sad to say Hitler did rise into power instigating that Jewish hatred that somehow he should fulfill to gain credibility from his supporters the German people and thus collaborated with horrific events afterwards. The Nazi did defy the world and in that regards even easier for them to annihilate defenseless Jews. How many Jews are there in Europe before and how many did reach Israel?
None of this matters. We should NOT criminalize Holocaust denial. It doesn't matter how strongly you or some people feel about it. Would you criminalize speech?
We never saw the earth get created either so I guess this is all a figment of your imagination. Reality isn't real. Abandon all hope.
Read my OP. I never said that just because we did not see the Holocaust happen with our own eyes, that most certainly means it didn't happen. I am getting tired of saying this. People need to read.
did you see the Civil War take place? the French Revolution? The Crusades? and if not, does that mean they didn't occur? LOL!!!!

Well those are facts and documented historically, out of respect for the 6 million who perished, yes I could criminalize speeches against it. It's like denying that they did suffer and murdered which for me inhumane. Free speech is there but so as slander and defamation as well.
You advocate the criminalization of speech. This discussion is over. - - - Updated - - - Then you should have asked me what I really meant instead of suspecting what I did (or did not) insinuate. My main point is that we should not criminalize Holocaust denial.
Irrelevant. If you want to discuss the legitimacy of libel and slander laws, create a new thread. In this thread we are talking about whether we should criminalize Holocaust denial.
No I did not say that, I said free speech is there and I also cited the limitation. What if I will make a free speech and in return it will divulge the nation's most explicit top secrets, would that be okay?
I can't answer that, but I fail to see how it's relevant. We are talking about whether we should criminalize Holocaust denial.
its illegal to threaten violence. its illegal to release government secrets. its illegal to commit slander and libel in many states
Yep, sucks to be a Holocaust denier, not only they are subjected to public contempt and ridicule but in some countries they may end up in prison... Cry me a river

I get what your implying with your op. I'm just saying the truth, and the truth is that it's dumb. There are billions of things that are absolute FACT that none of us have physically laid eyes on, yet they are all still FACT.
The Holocaust happened, it all comes together with evidence from Nazi testimony, Polish testimony, Jewish testimony, and also Soviet testimony. However, why is it that only one genocide out of many in the World is a jailed offense? That certainly doesn't seem very fair. If there was a fairness to it, then Abe Foxman would be also jailed for denying the Armenian Genocide, and minimizing the Holodomor genocide. I actually thought it was some kind of joke when I read up for the first time on Abe Foxman, and found out he's tough on Holocaust denial, but denies the Armenian genocide. As someone who has some Armenian, and Ukrainian heritage, I find Abe Foxman to be a massive hypocrite.
That this jew-hating scum may go to prison in some European countries is not among my top 1000 concerns. I have better things to worry about than that the Europeans want to keep their neo-nazis in prison.
Irrelevancy. I never said that just because we didn't see something with our own eyes, it makes it "not fact" anymore. In fact whether this is indeed a historical fact is being debated. All I am saying is that there is room for debate on Holocaust. If you think it's dumb feel free to do so.
