The House Republican want to cut funding for the Affordable Care Act, and want the public to believe they are doing so because it is the will of the people.

Undoubtedly, a poll of the FOX News audience would show 100% definitely want the ACA repealed. However, surveys made by five reliable polling sources prove the majority of Americans want the ACA to remain intact, and the government to remain open. This is despite the public’s uncertainty and lack of understanding concerning the new program.

Sadly, or perhaps fortunately, the House Republicans’ goal to shut the government down has been achieved. This is good because mid-term campaigns are just around the corner, and this GOP-caused shutdown, going against the will of the majority, will be fresh in voters’ memories. The sadness will be experienced by the hundreds of thousands of victims of the House Republicans’ fight to stop Obamacare, a fight supported by little more that one third of the U.S. public. This includes those who believe the new law doesn’t go far enough.

It has become an expected pleasure to watch the Republican Party cut its own throat with the voters as the G“NO"P politicians continue to cater to ultra right wing extremism in this country, scaring away all other voters.

More willful ignorance. It's annoying how stupid people can be. A majority oppose Obamacare, 57-38 according to CNN. A wider differential oppose Obamacare than blame the gop for the government shut down.

But you won't acknowledge that because it's politically inconvenient.

Last week a Republican Congressman was recorded saying that Obama is trying to pull a fast one because he knows that once Obamacare is implemented Americans will not want to give it up. Just like when liberals pushed through Social Security and Medicare. And now we are stuck with those. Such are the workings of the conservative minds,

When each individual provision of ACA is explained and polled individually, it's got overwhelming support. As well, there's a very tiny minority of people wanting the government shutdown in order to 'defund' (all 20% of what can be defunded) ACA...something like 75% are against government shutdown over any circumstance, including ACA issues.

    Bubble popped. Welcome to reality.

Conservatives and neoconservatives rarely, if ever, step into reality.

No bubble popped, no reality presented. What non-partisan study analyzed public opinion by each provision of Obamacare? From what I remember, a lot of the extras (which the gop as a whole has supported) are popular, but the key parts of Obamacare are unpopular.

Your leaving out the part that about 20% that oppose Obamacare oppose it because they want Universal Single Payer coverage. Basically, not liking it because its not Liberal enough. But you are correct. Most do not like it so it should be repealed and replaced just not all for the same reasons.

As far as I can tell, its about 50 / 50 between leaving Healthcare as it was and Overhauling it completely.

Actually, it's 10%. But that does make it about 50/50, quite true, but I was just countering an idiotic post. The person I responded to was trying to suggest that barely a third actually oppose Obamacare, and that majorities in five polls support it (which wasn't true, as the polls weren't on general support, and even then they didn't all show any majority opinion).

The only poll that counts is the 2012 election. The Republicans had a campaign policy to defund the program. The Democrats had a platform of supporting Obamacare. Obama won, thats called a mandate

uh, he won the presidency, and the gop won the House - so, essentially the gop got a mandate to defund Obamacare.

Each Presidental candidate had a publicly stated policy before the election. That makes it a mandate

What would like me to say? Obamacare was an Obama driven program. It was the cornerstone of his re-election bid. He won, therefore it is a mandate

And the house GOP. They ran against it. Are you suggesting the GOP House victories means a mandate to support Obamacare?

Really ask these same people if they like each perk on its own the polls consistently show strong approval of not turning away people due to medical problems, no lifetime cap, children covered on the parents plan until 26, closing the Medicare drug loophole etc. Just not in Obamacare which makes no sense since the mandate has to be there to have the rest work.

And I'm going to be joining the efforts to expand Medicaid in Florida, I have lots of free time that passes I can work as much as I want to which is not much and have medical insurance even if limited.

More down time and vacation is a good thing to be "working" on. :cheerleader:

Yes, as I've said in this thread, many parts of Obamacare are popular, but most of these measures are actually supported by both parties. It's the unpopular parts, like the individual mandate - the linchpin of Obamacare - is unpopular. One poll I saw (a scientific survey, though admittedly sponsored by a private company) found that 77% of registered voters favor repealing the individual mandate or delaying it. 49% want the mandate repealed.

    We ARE stuck with those.

I could make way more interesting my money on my own than allowing government to confiscate my earnings to "take care of me".

Both of those programs you mention benefit the poor at the expense of the people who actually planned for and take responsibility for their lives.

In absolutely no way is SS or Medicare beacons of progress. Quite the contrary.
