How come every time a democrat is elected my standard of living goes down?

Dodge noted, thus I will move on to debate those who can defend their claims with source citation.

because if you are the middle class you will find your income stagnant but your taxes raised. If you are poor you will find yourself unemployed or in government and if you are rich you have bought off the dems so no one really gains, aside from the crooked politicians enriching themselves. Most folk are not even aware that the congress has exempted themselves from silly laws like those against insider trading.

I just took a big look at my cell bill for last month. My wife and I barely use the phone and almost never for anything aside as a music player. Last month we had under 10 minutes of actual phone use, zero text and under 1 GB of data use. If you pull the taxes and fees out of the bill, my bill for two phones is under $50 a month. Now add in almost $20 in taxes and fees!

You mean growing the state and buying votes....the dems have most assuredly figured that out.

    Hmm.

That would mean you most probably live in TN, AL, LA, AR, OK, or WA. All but Washington controlled by very Republican legislatures.

Methinks you point your gun at the wrong squirrel.

I'm personally not very happy with the US government demanding 30% + of every American's income.

    Hmm.

Seems like Romney, Buffet, and lots of billionaires paid less than 15% in 2011. And, if you are a married person with two kids making $50k per year your effective tax rate including SS, and medicare is about 10.5% so, perhaps, you exaggerate just a lot?

9% sales tax? Mine is up to 7% now to help pay for the new football stadium even though the old one had not been fully paid for yet. We have a multitude of groups that can raise local taxes without any review. In ten years my taxes went from 600 to 2400 a year with a brief jump to 7500 which caused a huge protest.

How bout sparing the "concerned social scientist" pose, gets REAL old here and everywhere that it's pervasive among LW. LW claims are to be accepted as gospel with little if any substantiation whatsoever, while all nonleft claims are subject to strict epistemological scrutiny. That about sum it up?

OP asks a simple question, states an opinion. Instead of doing that yourself, you rev up the obvious, fallacious "concerned social scientist" stuff we see every day here. Did you have an actual -opinion- on the thread topic?

My opinion is this, GOP, Democrats, the more central -government- grows and takes, the more taxpayers lives are burdened, both by being made criminals of via excessive regulations and by having to work up to half their lives to fund a government that gives very little back.

People shouldn't be allowed to vote until they have paid a certain level of federal and state income taxes in their lives. Otherwise, it's as Franklin and Jefferson said, 51% voting to take from the 49% at the end of a gun barrel.

Perhaps not when you add up state tax, communications tax, power bill tax, property tax, fuel tax.
Perhaps you have no idea what is actually going on.

Funny but I among thousands of insurance company employees were laid off during the years of Poppy Bushko ( 1992) in my case and after working three part time jobs and running a one man business for a while I got back into the corporate world in the Clinton I years. Billy Bob Bubba may not have had any morals when it came to blinking young date girls but at least he did not F-Up the economy as it was in the years of Bushko I.

and perhaps you neglected to remember your original claim:

"I'm personally not very happy with the US government demanding 30% + of every American's income."

The taxes you reference, with the exception of a portion of the communications taxes, are state and local taxes. Who's your accountant, Bernie Madoff?

Did your standard of living go up during the last Republican administration under George Bush? If it did, you are certainly an exception to the rule.

:roflol: Touché.That is what I said but not what I meant.Bernie Madoff,oy vey!

It's ludicrous to say "Only democrats make the standard of living go down"

    What about Reagan's 2nd Congress?
What about all the Bushes? Do you not remember when W. was on the way out and they jacked fuel prices up so high no one was on the road?

No,Political crooks robbing the American people is a bipartisan effort.

You must be a statistical anomaly. For most people in the working middle classes, wealth dropped during the Bush Sr. administration, went up briskly during the Clinton administration, dropped drastically during the Bush Jr. administration, and has gone up very modestly during the Obama administration. I'm not assigning blame or credit to any of these presidents; a large part of the changes in wealth could be do to chance.

Of course, the very wealthy do well under almost any administration.

My standard of living has gone up each of the last 40-odd working years of my life. Has nothing to do with politics. Maybe you should take some personal responsibility rather than blaming others for your problems.
