How do we stop the violence in Chicago?

No one is killing anyone in chicago over weed sales. Coke, pills, meth, heroin? Sure. But solely over some grass? Fat chance.

 

How many addicts are able to hold down a job?

BTW, there's plenty of MAGA-hat wearing Trump voters on welfare in the South who love their meth.

But typically they are also convicted felons who cannot vote

Just as many obama and hillary supporters are convicted felon drug users

But they often do vote in someone elses name on election day

 

No it means I'm more than passingly familiar with the pot business, and people don't get guns out over street level amounts of weed only, unless you try to ROB them for the MONEY out of a large recent sale, or when they're going to re-up from their supplier.
That wouldn't be you robbing them for pot, that's you robbing them for money.
Drug robberies occur over cocaine, meth etc. They don't plan a kick door over a bag of cheeba.
The people who get murdered for their stash are people who are selling quite a bit more than weed, things a small and easily concealed amount of can net a large profit or a fun time. Weed is bulky and it has a pungent and unique odor detectable downwind for some distance, and its not worth enough on its own for the trouble of assaulting a trap house.

I live in Houston, 4th largest city in the country. I'm familiar with the inner city.

Plenty of people drink more than 5 measures of alcohol in 2 hours and still hold down a job.
Those are "addicts" by the definition used by the CDC *binge drinkers*

 

Approximately 16,000 Americans are killed by guns each year...about 44 per day. I'll guess another 30K-50K are injured by guns each year which is 82 to 137 each day. So in the good ole USA every single day we have 126 to 181 Americans killed and/or injured by guns. Obviously the issue of guns and violence is not a Chicago problem...it is a USA problem.

The number of Americans killed by guns each year is less than half the number killed in automobile accidents...if we truly care about human death why only focus on guns?

To answer the OP question, it is impossible to 'stop the violence' in Chicago or the USA. It can be greatly reduced but to do this requires enforcement of existing laws, and like most things in the USA, most of what we do are Band-aid solutions. Whatever it is we should do to reduce violence needs to be complete, and sustainable, and funded...all of which Americans have trouble doing...

 

I tried, but could not find a stot for how many bootleggers died running illegal whisky last year on Thunder Road

But quite a few alcholics drink themselves to death every year

Or kill someone in traffic accidents

And if we legalize pot I thonk we will have more deaths every year from substance abuse rather than less

You don't have to give 'prospects for the future' .. they're already available for the choosing, and have been for decades. Unfortunately, people in bondage can't choose freely.

We need to think different.
How about "Prison Colonies" for the worst of the bad.
Ultra Low Security jail, not home, for safer convicts.

A colony might be in the middle of no where or an island.
No place to escape to unless a helicopter/boat is coming for you

Violate the arrangements of Ultra Low Security imprisonment and face the real thing.

True, unfortunately it is not parents but parent and that parent has a tendency to pop kids out like candy from a Pez dispenser..

 

You have to somehow implant morals and education about life, which cannot be done. A lot of hanging would be in place. China fixed a serious drug problem in the past. You smelled, used, sold, possessed drugs, they hang or shot you. Further, a job and a future could slow down a lot of it.

I wouldn't look to China too much, I have a set of pictures from the 1930's when warlords were chopping off heads for going over the speed limit and killing everyone in the car and one picture shows a line of young school girls getting beheaded for supposed thief.

 

Maybe dems have it right by placing an abortion mill at every corner in the black ghettos? Their initial goal was to wipe out blacks with eugenics with birth control and abortions, and since RvW happened, crime rates have dropped in proportion to the amount of blacks killed by democrat championed planned parenthood.
