This is a story I've heard from a couple sources. Trump knows the legal system and also knows that small contractors usually don't. They need to be paid in a timely fashion for large contracts to stay in business. When Trump litigates, they are in huge jeopardy. Read the story and consider how fit this scumbag is for ANY elected office.

The anecdote i first heard went like this: Trump GC calls when the final bill is presented and offers some fraction to settle up OR litigation follows. If the small contractor will roll over, the Trump GC promises to move their company to the top of the list for future work. Why you'd want to work for such a POS again doesn't make and sense to me but ... many go for it.

This bully/sleazebag/POS has no place in elected office. The GOPe can do one righteous thing before they get pushed into the grave: DUMP TRUMP.

I guess we should have suspected as much from the self-described "king of debt"

Gotta admit, I've fallen for that a time or two myself over the years. I'm still contracting. They guys who made the promises have had to move elsewhere.

I'm not sure why this should come as a surprise to anyone.

Maybe it might be because I spent years in the construction business and saw my share of flamboyant egos playing high roller on borrowed money.

The very first time I ever saw Donald Trump (which was around 1982), I knew exactly who he was (and is).

Guys like him talk big talk, take their money off the top, and walk on their obligations at the first sign of trouble. Often they just don't pay their bills because they think its good business to string their creditors along.

I have never doubted that Trump falls into that category.

If anyone ever had any doubt about it, recall Trump's comments on how to handle American debt. He proposed walking on our obligations in the assumption that our creditors would take their haircut and give us a workout.

That's the way Trump thinks........deadbeat to the very core!

No wonder he's so rich when he's robbing every poor bastard who just wants to earn a day's pay. What a disgusting example of a human.

Of course every story about Trump is true, right? Look at how the MSM is vetting Trump but failed miserably with Obama and is overlooking everything Clinton has done. But we won't see similar stories about them because community organizers never build anything or create jobs and Clinton's money for access never generated any lawsuits, real or imagined. But you guy go on believing whatever you want to believe, but Trump didn't violate the Constitution, he didn't force Obamacare on us, he isn't allowing the country to be invaded by illegals and refugees, and he isn't being criminally investigated by the FBI. So continue on with your rabid left wing circle jerk.

There is a school of thought from guys like Trump that if your debt is large enough, you're in control.

Isn't it hilarious now Trump's actions are completely indefensible, and even Trump's supporters know that his actions are indefensible?

And since they know that their boy Trump is totally guilty and beyond defending, all they could do is bring up Hillary or Obama to deflect the issue.

It is totally hilarious (and ultimately very sad) that deflection is the only tactic that PF's delusional RWNJ echo chamber has to defend that clown.

Its hard to admit you're getting conned. trump knows that, its part of his business model. Once someone is under the influence of a con-artist, its amazing the lengths that the con-artist can screw them before they'll take action. Its part of the psychology because its hard to admit that you just got conned.

I'm just wondering how long its gonna to take for the trump supporters to grow a brain cell and figure it out. Personally, I think the intelligent ones already know and are hoping and praying that he's not what they already pretty much know he is.

What they need to realize is that they have a duty to themselves, their families and their country to get the courage to admit they've made a serious mistake. Supporting a blatant crook and racist like trump is simply shameful and if it continues, they'll be beyond redemption.

Yeah, Trump had nothing to do one day so he thought he'd screw over a dishwasher. Give me a break, did you not learn anything from the NY Times hit piece that was proven to be one big lie?

Anyway, don't vote for him. Instead vote for the woman being investigated by the FBI and quite possible put our nation's security at risk, not to mention allowing 4 Americans to die on her watch after they made 60+ requests for added security.

They're suing to get paid for the work that they did. It has nothing to do with financial gain beyond getting paid what they were contractually owed.

Wow, you guys will apologize for anything...pathetic.

Here's the problem I have with the article: not a single link to any court documents or other tangible evidence in support of the claims.

This is the information age why not reference, with a simple link, documents used to create the article? If the author actually searched archives, deeds, judgments court documents why not link them?

    Also from experience;

Specific performance clauses in commercial construction contracts are there for a reason, failure to meet standards or deadlines costs everyone downstream in the project, it can delay funding, completion, cause fines, trigger performance clauses in other contracts and on and on.

As a real estate broker I've never not been paid in full at closing, unless I negotiated my commission down to make the numbers work in advance.

Also, we don't know who was in control, who owned these companies? Did Trump have a controlling interest? How were these projects financed? Banks usually control construction draws and it's their representative that typically signs off on construction milestones and pays vendors.

Just not enough information in this article, which piques the cynical side of my mind.

    Cheers

I'm not buying the dishwasher story either. Each states department of labor deals harshly with failure to pay hourly workers. It's usually associated with a failure to withhold state and federal taxes, that will get you jumped on with both feet.

    Cheers

No they're not, they want 'go away money.' Often deep pockets just pay to get rid of the parasites...Trump doesn't do that.
