Well, I don't think picking up Tebow at $6.6 million and benching him was a wise decision. Up until the season started, everyone thought he would bring back the wildcat, which probably would have been the wisest choice. Sice that never really developed, the only way he showed any real success with the Jets was with the running game. He was the only running back who could run the ball up the sidelines. Every other running play was moved straight up the middle of the field, so I don't necessarily agree that he couldn't have been at least as successful has the other running backs, which really isn't asking all that much anyway.
At least they fired Mike Tennebaum as GM. Next coach that should be axed is Tony Sparano, he's a horrible offensive coordinator. Theres a reason Miami fired him after 1 or 2 seasons. Ryan has one last chance to turn this franchise around, if he fails to do so he must be immediately fired. I say the Jets should have signed coach Sean Payton. The Jets cannot afford plays like this....The butt fumble. If it wasn't so funny I would be furious as a jets fan.
I don't really follow football, but I remember last year's football season Tim Tebow was everywhere in the news. I know there was the whole endzone prayer thing and his religious beliefs, but I assumed he was a good player too. Is he not? I'm just curious because this year I'm seeing all kinds of headlines about trading him, and not starting. What's the deal?
He is not good. He is perhaps the most overrated and overexposed player in NFL history. He can't throw, he makes terrible decisions and can only handle a 1 dimension "option" offense which does not work in the NFL.
Rex Ryan for sure has to go.How do you go and start Sanchez in the final game of the year after his disasterous monday night embarresment on national tv to the entire country AGAIN? He needs to be follow the door Mike out the door. This is like his fourth or fifth year and he is STILL playing like a rookie making boneheaded playes like that one there against the pats and those 5,count them 5 turnovers against the Titans.RYan should have seen after that botched play there against the pats that ANYBODY would be an improvement over sanchez, yet that idiot goes and plays him AGAIN after that monday night meltdown game. Ryan has got to go as well.
He was surrounded by a great team last year, which was able to make up for his shortcomings. Even last season, his own coach refused to consider keeping him as their starting quarterback. He became so popular, I think, because a lot of religious folks jumped on his bandwagon; they see a shortage of good Christian role models in sports and really wanted to believe he could take that job. Apparently, Jets picked him up because they saw his potential to maintain tickets sales in spite of the Giants success last year in the postseason.
What Harbaugh did with Kaepernick last night, Rex Ryan should have been doing with Tebow all year! I wonder if the Jets owner has that figured out yet.
Tebow cant do that because Tebow cant read defenses. Kaepernick is 10 times the passer that Tebow is.
#1. Tebow won the Heisman, and was nominated three times. #2. He took Denver to the playoffs his rookie season. #3. Sanchez sucks.
Winning the Heisman is irrelevant in terms of pro success. Just ask Gino Torretta, Eric Crouch, Jason White, Matt Leinart, Troy Smith, or Danny Wuerffel. And while Sanchez sucks, Tebow actually is worse.
That's funny, calling these guys irrelevant. RG3, Cam Newton, Reggie Bush, Carson Palmer, Charles Woodson, Andre Ware, Gino Torretta, Doak Walker, Paul Hornung, Roger Staubach, O.J. Simpson, Jim Plunkett. Tony Dorsett, Marcus Allen, Hershel Walker, Barry Sanders, Vinny Testaverde, Eddie George, and so many more.
No, I'll repeat myself, and pay attention this time. The Heisman trophy is irrelevant in determining NFL success. By the way, Gino Torretta sat on the bench his entire career. Andre Ware was terrible in the NFL.
I'll repeat also. Tebow took Denver to the playoffs, Sanchez is a miserable failure. They don't give the Heisman to bad players.
Just start watching football this year? Sanchez came into the league in 2009 and has taken the Jets to two AFC championship games. If taking a team to the playoffs is your definition of a good QB than Sanchez trumps anything Tebow has done. Bad NFL players have been awarded the Heisman several times, just within the past decade or so. Eric Crouch never saw the field in the NFL. Jason White was not drafted and never saw the field either. Matt Leinart has sat the bench during his career. Troy Smith sat the bench his entire 4 year NFL career. Tebow, I'm afraid to tell you, will be no different than a Troy Smith. A short NFL career of sitting the bench.
