OK...A lot of us (including myself) have not fulfilled their avocation. That doesn't mean you should give up. There is nothing wrong with earning money in another vocation. The only failure is not continuing to pursue your passion in some way, shape or form. Maybe you can tutor (as another suggested) and start your own web page/blog where you can write about art or Social Science? Get a track record while you tutor to support yourself, etc. Good luck...just don't give up. Use your handicap and maybe write about the Social implications...how you perceive art, society, relationships...etc. (Just a suggestion)

Thank you very much. I will be tutoring. Making a lame webpage for free is possible. Making a good page would take $2,000.

Of course there is nothing unique about my situation -- tens of millions of Americans have failed. Many much much worse -- millions of people with Depression became drug addicts.

I would start with a lame webpage...get your feet wet...make connections...etc. Maybe do some YouTube vids etc. Get your ideas out there somehow...Try not to put up road blocks in front of yourself. If your avocation is your passion it will be somewhat fulfilling just doing it. Believe me I understand...Been there....When I started my own business everyone said to forget it or that 'you can't do that' or 'you won't make any money.' It is IMO a human trait NOT to want others to succeed more than themselves because it means their failure. Stay focused like a laser beam on your passion/avocation. That's all I got....and again..good luck.

Do you want me to feel sorry for you? It was everything I could do to get through college algebra and I suffered from depression for many years and didn't even know it. Get off your sorry butt and get to work!

For tens of millions of disabled Americans who do not get the help disabled people get in Scandinavia. I am not unique. I am average -- like tens of millions of others.

Millions disabled people in USA become drug addicts and prisoners. Fortunately my parents help me.

    So was Jesus..:)
A major theme of Christianity is to reject the stupid ways of the world and not to dance to it's tune, because the world counts for zilch in the grand scheme of things-
Jesus said:- "The world wants you to dance to its tune......God has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners...to release the oppressed" (Matt 11:16/17,Luke 4:18 )
"Jesus saved you from the empty way of life handed you by your forefathers" (1 Pet 1:18 )
"Don't conform to the pattern of this world" (Romans 12:2)
"As a soldier of Christ, please only God and not the world" (2 Tim 2:3/4)
"Don't love the world or the things in it,otherwise the love of God is not in you" (1 John 2:15-17)
"Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth" (Col 3:2)
"You were bought at a price, don't serve men" (1 Cor 7:23)
"A friend of the world is the enemy of God" (James 4:4)
"You were dead when you followed the ways of the world" (Eph 2:1/2)
"You died with Christ from this world, so don't keep submitting to its rules" (Col 2:20)

That's why Christians are generally happy because they've detached themselves from the yukky world-
"For we look at things unseen rather than the seen, for the seen are temporary, but the unseen are eternal" (2 Cor 4:18 )

LOL, money does not make success or happiness. What makes one happy is satisfaction of a job well done. Success comes from within and not from jingling bags of money. Rich people commit suicide too. Decide what problems that you have and solve them. As you experience success after success then more follow.

My late dad was a workaholic- literally- and it sent him half-nutty, he once said to my mother 'that factory's my life". Have you ever heard such krap?..:)
He showed all the symptoms of overwork such as a loss of perspective between important and non-important things, stress, worry, bad temper, quirky behaviour etc
He used to unwind by boozing in the evenings and in the end it caught up with him and he died of liver cancer aged 62.
Amazingly I didn't take after him one iota and have always been kool, relaxed and artistic, the exact opposite of him. Naturally it caused friction because he wanted me to be like him, and after I left school he sometimes hammered on my bedroom door at the crack of dawn yelling "Come on get out of bed and look for a job, they're crying out for people at the glue factory!" but I just thought "Oh stick it!" and turned over and went back to sleep..:)

I lost my business and my ability to walk normally..Yet I don't feel I am a failure...After the next operation, next month, I plan on testing the waters to see what kind of financial mischief I can get into..I am 55, lost my ability to work last year, although it is a condition I have struggled with since 2002...I gained 40 pounds and felt awful about myself, but, life is too precious to give up...money, that's a misgiven to thinking you are successful..Many people that have shunned wealth have been successful in their life...

    Best of luck to you!

As for me, I am not exceptional. I am one of tens of millions people in USA who fail.
