I feel like Hitchens is very short sited. I know you are an atheist, but humor me a minute. Why would a perfect God want someone who does not agree with His opinions to be unhappy? He wouldn't. Therefore, Hitchens would not be in heaven, even though all things will be made clear to him.

I'm not condemning Hitchens, I'm hypothesizing while using him as an example.

 

OP: why would you want a god(?) to exist - if he's just like the Christian god that would mean that all gays are burning, all Hindus are burning, all Muslims are burning, all Jews are burning, etc., while all supremacist Christians are up in their elitist bigoted invisible country club in the sky not giving a DAMN about the injustice of all those people burning just for thinking differently than them. Evidence? Evidence? Religious people generally don't even need evidence, they just need to be afraid enough ("god's wrath") and they'll believe anything that Jesus tells them. It would be great if they could think for themselves.

 

That remains the flaw of human intelligence. Physical death is never as critical as en eternal hell. Humans can die in whatever way as long as more souls are saved from the eternal hell. That's the point.

Evidence is in fact a delusion. What evidence can you present for what you did yesterday?

Humans don't basically rely on evidence to get to a truth, while evidence don't exist in a lot of situations, including what you yourself just did as recent as yesterday. Instead humans mostly rely on putting faith in a "middle man" to reach a truth. So if en eyewitness wrote about what you did yesterday, humans can believe it with faith to get to know what you did. That's almost the only way which works, as history (such as what you did in your life time) basically has no evidence at all. Humans are blocked from accessing the past as well as the future.


Even in terms of science, humans in majority don't rely on evidence to get to a truth. You don't have any evidence before you know for a fact that black holes exist. Humans in majority in the end rely on the "middle man" which is our scientists to get to such a truth.

 

the "evidence" the Bible has was often handed down, VERBALLY, OVER 40 - 80 YEARS, and many sources were anonymous!! Expect MORE from an "all-knowing, all-powerful god that loves us."

Oh. Moses wrote nothing. He didn't exist. Ancient History tells us that. The early Biblical stories are simply historical NOVELS. The stories themselves are disproved by history.

This is going to sound strange to you but an increase in belief in aliens and / or angels and / or life after death and / or G-d.... is relevant to economics........
