Say what? He brought them home. He didn’t necessarily want to, he was worried about the spreading here...but it was the right thing to do

Sure, assuming that no one told him or led him to believe the contrary, or that he did not review the contrary information before he made the comment.

I don't at all discount the possibility that he was lying. Anything is possible. I just won't assume that he was absent more, like a statement from a reliable cabinet member in a resignation speech, or another wormy whistleblower, especially where it it obvious he was leaving open the possibility that things would worsen.

Off the immediate topic, but I remember going through this "lie" business in the Iraq war. Bush "lied," don't you see, because he claimed erroneously, perhaps even recklessly, that there were WMD's in Iraq. Lying was the only possible explanation for the error, "because Bush." There was just no reasoning with those predisposed to assume the worst about a person.

    Be fair.

I think TLegal's point was that Trump didn't deign to include the passengers in the list of the infected, and that he was therefore lying about the numbers. He will correct us if were are wrong.

But I imagine there were also a few Americans in Rangoon and Guadlajara who were also infected and should have been included in the tally.

No. He said it was doing it for the numbers. Read the article and find this statement made by Trump in perfect context:
“I would like to have the people stay. I told them to make the final decision. I would rather because I like the numbers being where they are. I don’t need to have the numbers double because of one ship that wasn’t our fault. And it wasn’t the fault of the people on the ship either. OK? It wasn’t their fault, either. And they are mostly Americans. So, I can live either way with it.”

Wait ... the numbers of what? It seems to me he was referring to the numbers of persons on the mainland, not the total number of Americans infected anywhere in the world. You're making it sound like he was not acknowledging the ship at all.

If the point is that it was wrong to make the people stay on the ship, then that point can, I suppose, be argued. But I don't know how it was wrong. What would you have commanded regarding the ship?

Yes. The point is his decision to keep them on the ship for, as he said, statistical purposes only. What would I have commanded? I think any compassionate soul would bring them home and quarantine the still-healthy ones in significantly more healthy quarters and doing a better job isolating and treating the afflicted ones. What would YOU do?

No. According to Fox News Trump left the ship's fate up to Pence. Not to the passengers. Anyway, this was about what Trump wanted - for the ship to remain at sea due to the stats.

Your quote said he didn’t care either way Becker they are Americans. Can you not understand your own post?

Much of Trump's opposition is becoming very fact challenged.
Fortunately the thinking Left is still grounded in reality.

""We had a private conversation, but he said, 'We're gonna do the right thing' and 'You have my support, all of our support, logistically and otherwise,'" Newsom told reporters at a Monday news conference.

"He said everything I could have hoped for," the governor asserted. "And we had a very long conversation and every single thing he said, they followed through on," he noted.

"Every single thing... has been consistent with expectation we'd repatriate these passengers and do it in a way that does justice to the spirit that defines the best of our country," the governor said."

In fact, many of Trump's MSM critics have called it the Chinese Coronavirus. Surely you know that.

He stated his preference for keeping them at sea for stats' sake. But he left the decision up to Pence. Read the 2 links I had posted. One is from Fox and the other from Rolling Stone. Citing multiple sources presents no challenge for most readers. Is there anything else I can do for you?

Nice "hoax post!" Eu Presidents ain't squat. Look at deaths in Italy in contrast to reported cases. Compare to U.S. and they even have single payer healthcare!
"People are dying because of Donald Trump" ....you say. You are a prime example of "Hate America First" and Make America Global Again!

Nothing I read the quote. He stated his preference, but was willing to do the right thing and bring them home. What’s your point? A nothing burger

It should be called the, "Chinese Corona Virus." After all it was indeed a result of hideous food choices in certain parts of CHINA. Right is Right and Trump got this one right.

No He did NOT choose to do the right thing. He left it up to Pence. Y'know this discussion path you and I just did was already done. Read through the past few ages and you can see this all redundant. Trump wanted them delayed for stats and then deferred to Pence's judgment. Got it now?

Correct. The CCP ordered cover-up is also responsible for much of the spread of the virus and the resulting global pandemic.

"Axios has compiled a timeline of the earliest weeks of the coronavirus outbreak in China, highlighting when the cover-up started and ended — and showing how, during that time, the virus already started spreading around the world, including to the United States.

Why it matters: A study published in March indicated that if Chinese authorities had acted three weeks earlier than they did, the number of coronavirus cases could have been reduced by 95% and its geographic spread limited.

This timeline, compiled from information reported by the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the South China Morning Post and other sources, shows that China's cover-up and the delay in serious measures to contain the virus lasted about three weeks."
AXIOS, Timeline: The early days of China's coronavirus outbreak and cover-up, By Bethany Allen-Ebrahimian, Mar 18, 2020.

Yeah and they did the right thing and brought them home because they are Americans. I fail to see the point. Did you not want him to?
