Nice post, yabberefugee. And thank you for your respectful candor.

I do agree that it seems the European nations, including Great Britain (until recently), have been anxiously awaiting our taking a seat alongside them on their couch of declining ambitions. You are right. We, our country and founding values, are indeed, "exceptional." And our borders MUST be secured and respected.

Breaking away from one's allies can be like a divorce. It can be messy, or amicable, or somewhere in between. Anytime a sovereign nation elects to modify or even sever its relations with a group of long term allies, or a couple negates vows taken, it is like forfeiting a part of one's own self. Say an arm. But if not performed cleanly and surgically it becomes more like yanking the arm out with veins and tendons and bone mass pulled, tattered, and traumatized. Not a clean break.

And though I agree with much of what you are saying and again, really welcome your pleasant demeanor with me, I do not share your confidence in Trump. I believe he is not who he has you thinking he is. He is not accomplished, except in a controlled Reality TV environment where he holds all the cards. In the real world, however, Trump's business ventures fail. We don't know his true worth or dealings because he flat out refuses to present his taxes. Trump confides in Putin while praising both Putin and Kim Jung Un. Trump has, IMHO, fused his success as President with the gambling wheel of the Stock Market, and has left us ill-prepared for everything that is currently unfolding. But we do have to listen to him tell us, even on a COVID-19 briefing, how "Smart" he thinks he is. This troubles me. A lot. As does the way he snapped at Peter Alexander. Not for the simple temper loss. But for what it reveals. And Trump shouldn't even be on that stage with the medical professionals. At best half America is discomforted by him.

This being said, you and I have a strong faith in the USA, YR. And that is something we can surely respect in one another.

    Thank you again.

    Be safe. Be well.

It's not his realm of expertise. When you are clueless (as one who says, "yes. well maybe no. well i don't care") it is best to be silent. N'est pas?

I guess it's just apparent to me that Trump's place on this issue is best left for the medical professionals. He flip-flopped and then deferred to Pence. Not very impressive IMHO.

Don't think so. He, wisely for Trump anyway, has handed the whole COVID-19 hot-potato over to Pence. Probably should hand it all over to a chief CDC, or medical, professional. But he's not really even delegating. He's still on stage, taking the mic when he shouldn't, and saying some absurdities while the professionals are seen literally cringing in the background. Trump, in terms of delegating, is like the anti-Reagan. While Reagan delegated almost everything, Trump micro-manages everything. That is, of course, until it becomes too hot to handle. The he gets Mikey to do it. :)

He was answering a question, of course he isn’t an expert, hence why he said he’d leave it up to them and didn’t care either way. That’s what good leaders do.
Thanks for highlighting that for us

Well. That's really a stretch. But okay. :)
Still overfed his enemies with it. NOT something a good leader would do. Unless, of course, its toxic... heh-heh-heh... we'll see. Right?
I think Trump is just too full of himself, and without anything to base it on, to be very effective on the world stage. It's one thing to be conceited when you're good. Like Mohammed Ali, for example. But kinda pitiful when you've got not much more than a facade... and a really bad temper (as evidenced by his undeserved and harsh response to Peter Alexander).

"Mikey"? Why the disrespect? Did the Vice President do something wrong, also?

You're asking me? LOL!!! Okay. IMHO he did the, "right thing." But only partially. He needs to go full-way-there and let the professionals handle it ALL.

Cheap shot. You can paint a clown face on anyone. It's dishonest. How dignified would you look with a clown face? How fairly would it reflect who you are?

I'm not projecting you. I'm quoting you.

Why are you comparing Vice President Pence to a child in cereal advertisement? Why not just refer to him by his actual name or title?

Not really. And Trump's temper with Peter Alexander was really shameful, IMHO. Have a nice day.

He should have been nice about dems spreading fearmongering?

no you literally said the President should keep his mouth shut when he doesn’t have experience. That’s what you said he did here when he said he didn’t care what happened and handed it off to the team he put in place.

I saw the question delivered by Peter Alexander as having an ulterior motive than to ask an honest question. It was a question to demean the President and divide the Nation. It had strong implications that could have been implied had the President not stood up to him. For decades Conservative leaders have been run over by the leftist press and now they are in shock.....it's not happening anymore!

I think Trump rightly suspected that Alexander had calculated that any "reassuring" answer Trump gave would be met with "But that assumes that there is a vaccine/cure/flattening of the curve etc. on the horizon. Are you guaranteeing that any of that will happen soon??"

In other words, he was setting him up. If it did happen soon, it would look like an innocent question. If not, there'd be more "proof" that Trump is a liar. Easy.

And that is just a purely desperate attempt to defend trump based on absolutely zero evidence.

In fact, Alexander asked the question of Pence later without following up with your hypothetical so there is explicit evidence to the contrary.

Trump was presented with a softball, he reacted like a chicken ****.

Instead they must react like a chicken **** instead of providing carefully crafted answers designed to calm the fears of the American people while answering a softball question.

If it isn't yet clear, it soon will be to the OP that what he called fear mongering, was in fact a legitimate concern and question. And trump was doing harm to this nation.

That reporter Peter was trying to get CIC Trump in a “gotcha” moment. This reporter is a dooche bag. Trying to inject fear and chaos.

Sure, Trump’s response was over the top. But given the media’s constant quest to “gotcha”, I can see why.

Perhaps this DB can actually take off the “hate Trump” blinders and ask truly relevant questions.
