I had missed that this was Hebron but I guessed it was and then checked it. Hebron is hell on earth for Palestinians. Hebron was what got the conscience of Israeli soldiers who started 'Breaking the Silence' . They were as shocked at what they were asked to do as the fact that they followed orders but once they got home their conscience spoke to them.

The religious racket in the army I think started with Cast Lead. They also seem to be becoming stronger and stronger in the settlements and I think it was a two or three years ago people started thinking that the Israeli Government now was more scared of the extremist settlers and the settlements where these religious nationalist abound than anyone else.

Israeli soldiers have always complained when they have been given orders that are against the laws of war but unfortunately they are then told they are traitors. It is an extreme right Government and they have religious extremism and the religious extreme will be like every other religious extremism. Unfortunately these ones are supported by the American Christian extreme. I think it was in 2014 they were saying that the religious extreme had got the majority of commanding posts in the Israeli army. It used to be far from that. They used to be all secular.

Israel only has a 'semi free press' which always puts the army view as the truth so it is difficult for Israelis to really know what is going on. I doubt the majority are like this. Even about Refugees who Israel are apparently now intending of sending to Germany and Canada rather than deport to their death. When it was Israel's intention to deport African Refugees it was the people of Israel particularly those who lived among them who resisted this. They got the court to halt this. That I think we also need to remember. We see the racists in Israel. Their are plenty of them particularly in Government but I think we also sometimes need to remember that not all Israelis are like that.
