That's an interesting standard.. Of course, we all share DNA, in reality. We're all common descendants of very ancient ancestors. Does that mean we own each other?
No DNA is not by default your property. It usually starts out as your property, being a part of your body, created by you, if you will. However, under certain circumstances, you can give up, or be forced to give up DNA. Police have heaps of DNA which, while using the word "belong" is a efficient of saying who it's from, is not owned by its producer.
Wouldn't that mean I'd still be my parents property despite being in my 30s? After all, our DNA hasn't (fundamentally) changed.
You clearly don't get my point. No parent's children mare made up of the parent's DNA. They are made up of elements of both parents' DNA, but the child's DNA is unique and owned by the child in question.
It's probably more apt to say that our DNA owns us. It's certainly responsible for who we are, and we have no control over it.
And, for that matter, we all end up inheriting our genes from an unbroken chain of genetic recombination that stretches back to the very first life on this planet..
Children are a combination of the DNA that originates from their parents. They do not share the same exact DNA as their parents. Its not that hard to understand.
By "by default", I don't mean that it starts out as your property, I mean that when you assess whether or not a piece of your DNA is your property or not, one cannot assume that it is and then go from there. Ownership is a concept in its own right and a person who produced an object isn't necessarily the person who owns it.
Yes, it is............. both man's law (kidnapping) and God's Law (virginity and chastity) are based on the ownership of children. If owning children was impossible, then kidnapping could not be illegal, and a father would have no concern for his daughter's virginity. But kidnapping IS A LAW and chastity IS VALUABLE to a father.
