If Trump thinks he can get more than 3% economic growth, he's dreaming

Just thought this would be an interesting time for a retrospective of the left wing media when Trump said he would achieve GDP numbers like we got today.

"High rates of growth, and the productivity that drives it, are likely distant memories from a bygone era."

"Jason Furman, formerly the chief economist for the Obama White House ("it would require everything to go right … in ways that are either historically unparalleled or toward the upper end of the historical range") and Edward Lazear, who served the same role for George W. Bush ("pray for luck," he advises)

"In fact, the only place one can find confidence about a growth rate of 3%-plus is inside the Trump administration, where Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin says it's "very achievable." But he would say that, wouldn't he? After all, Trump's economic doctrine is dependent on it. Without such growth, Mnuchin's promise that the Trump-backed tax cut would "pay for itself" is a fantasy."

"And even the most sedulous fans of deregulation, such as Douglas Holtz-Eakin of the American Action Forum, don't forecast additions to economic growth of more than a few hundredths of a percentage point a year. That won't get Trump much closer to 3%-plus"

Lies, ALL LIES!!!! It can't be. Liberals brains exploding all over the country. Its like the compilation videos of all the experts mockingly saying Trump would NEVER be president back in 2016. Funny, they haven't moved out of the country yet=)

Maybe they will move to Cuba when our economy hits 5% or something may just snap in their heads and they may all just wander off into the night muttering to themselves. "That ****ing Trump, That ****ing Trump. That ****ing Trump".

If he makes a big enough deficit he can have whatever growth he wants. Lets see last year it was already up and this year he might go above 1 trillion.

Its going to wreck the US economy in the decades after that but I doubt trump cares.

Even Obama had a couple of quarters over 3% ... ain't such a big deal. If Trump can get a full year over 3%, then he can crow. Up till then, it's just another case of Bush hanging
that "Mission Accomplished" banner too soon. If Trump averages over 12% per year average growth of the stock market like Obama and Clinton, then he can brag.

But Trump won't have a tax cut to help next quarter and he won't have China buying extra agriculture trying to beat upcoming tariffs. I have no problem giving him a high five if
he gets 3% for a whole year. Anybody can get a quarter here and there - even Obama.

Trump fans are ignoring these inconvenient facts just as he anticipated they would. Mr. smoke and mirrors strikes again.

But then they'll move the goalposts if Trump gets growth over 3% for the year.

Trump's nowhere near obama levels of spending but Trump's economy is leaving the Obama stagnation in the rear view mirror.

Are you kidding? In April of this year, we hit a trillion dollars in deficit spending. That means we are spending a trillion dollars a year more than the government is receiving in taxes. If the US government was a business, it would be bankrupt. That kind of deficit is unprecedented, and horrible in an economic expansion. It should be exactly the opposite- low to no deficit spending in an expansion. Then when the economy has a downturn, use deficit spending to reduce the impact of the recession. We also have a $21Trillion debt on top of a $1Trillion in deficit spending.

Frankly, I'd love for our economy to be growing at 3% annually, but we're not there and a trade war isn't likely to get us there. We badly need wages to improve and as little inflation as possible, but nothing is trending in those directions. It also wouldn't hurt if we could stop spending so much in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, etc.

the left's Nobel Prize winning darling of economics predicted Trump's victory would plunge the world into recession.

the best of their best are flaming idiots or pathological liars.

    Forgetting something?

"The approximate cost of the economic stimulus package was estimated to be $787 billion at the time of passage, later revised to $831 billion between 2009 and 2019.[1] "

Anyway point of this thread is trump did what all of you said was impossible. You are just going to have to deal with that.
