Why go to all this work to play games? Why not just answer it directly?

Are you fighting to stop treatment for smoking induced lung cancer?

    Its a simple question

What I am saying is that it is wrong to get unwillingly pregnant, just as it is wrong to unwillingly cause yourself any kind of harm. Luckily, we have smart people around who invent goods and services that can treat these unwillingly caused conditions. However, that does not mean these technologies should be abused. Instead of putting ourselves in unwilling situations, we should always strive to put ourselves in willing situations. Sometimes people just have bad luck, but when it comes to pregnancy and health issues, it is actually very easy to avoid unwanted conditions - Stay cautious and responsible and respect your body.

Yes and don't be fat, or smoke or drink....etc. Got it. But if you do I am glad we have treatments for that just like we have for unwanted pregnancy

This is not a thread where we praise the wonders of medical research. And I am not really sure what kind of point you are trying make since no one really disagrees that it is good that people who need help, can get help.

The technology as such is quite amazing, however that is not what we are discussing here and you know it.

Don't want an abortion? Don't get pregnant! Don't want to be pregnant? Do not have unprotected sex. Problem solved!

The easiest way is, of course, to only have sex with someone who you would like to have a child with, i.e. cut the one-night-stand bs and look for real love.

I prefer a world where women don't need abortions and I believe such a world is not impossible.

I prefer a world where everyone holds hands and sing kumbaya. But I am glad we can crush our enemies from 30,000 feet with bombs if we have to

The question is, if women did not need to have abortions, would pro-choicers still be throwing all their weight behind supporting them?

To some extent, I feel the necessity of abortion is really besides the point in the argument. Pro-choicers are still going to be fighting to support them whether they're necessary or not.

And ,of course, you'd be wrong. Look up the word "choice" in the disctionary.

Pro-Choicers support CHOICE, the Freedom of choice, the freedom of owning your own body, a freedom that Anti-Choicers wish to take from women.

It hasn't been possible so far....why would you think it will be possible?

Are men going to stop having sex?

That would be the ONLY way there are no more unwanted pregnancies....

I can't believe the posters in here who don't know what CHOICE means!!!!

See, when one has options one has choices. If one only has one "option" there are NO choices...PLEASE look up the definition of "choice" in a dictionary.

However , if abortion is banned that means women have had the right to their own bodies taken away......so the next step would be to force them to have abortions....

afteralll , if the state (government) owns women and women have no right to their own bodies then the state can force them to have abortions...

NO, it doesn't mean she did something "wrong"...

It only means she had sex....is that "wrong" to you???

She should be punished for having sex?

You're right, women don't dream of having abortions , they don't delight in them ( as some Anti-Choicers contend) but they do find them necessary sometimes.....and have for thousands of years...

Yes, it is! She obviously had sex with the wrong person because had she done it with the right one, the pregnancy would not have been an "unwanted" one.

...I cannot believe there are posters who don't get this.

    That's not what I said.

This is my point exactly! Women do not delight themselves in abortions because they know there is something wrong about them. Only because it is necessary sometimes does not mean it is right sometimes. This is why I advocate young people seek as little "casual sex" as possible and instead look for a long-term relationship and if one really, really has such a strong urge that one cannot live without an one-night-stand, then they should always use contraceptives.

I really do not see how this position is controversial or sexist in any way at all. All I am advocating for is common sense, responsibility, self-respect, love and what is right.

Your link has zero to do with the necessity of abortion.

Your necessity to an abortion is the necessity that matters.
