This targeted advertising seems to work.. I went shopping to register a web domain, and now on pretty much EVERY website I ever go to I get the same alligator trying to sell me web hosting. Every website I go to, he's there.

Seems a waste of money because if I don't click the once, I'm sure not going to eventually. Like you'd think they'd diversify. Is this just me?

Anyone who uses a computer is being stalked...there is no privacy. Every word you type is registered and noted and stored....by someone.

There is a thing called a Tracking cookie. it follows you around online and activates the advertisement areas of many websites.

Delete your web browser's cookies... Do you know how? That should clear it out.

If that doesn't work look for a tiny blue triangle button or icon around the edge of the advertisement. It lets you go to an online website that manages your advertisement interests or opt-out of interest based ads.

Even better, sometimes but not always, there's an "x" button, box, or icon next to the advertisement. If you click it that will mute that specific advertisement so you don't see it anymore.

I have to say I can find targeted advertising quite funny,

As an atheist I spent one day researching israel and jewish history.

The next day I got spam mail from 6 Christian dating sites!

Web beacons generally aren't this good. You may have malware. I'd do a good scan.

Nope. When I was job hunting on the web, ads kept popping up for continuing education, and every time I clicked "No" or "Not Interested". Of course they appeared after I had input my contact info, so no sooner did I get off the site, my phone started to ring. After about a week of this I started to respond to the caller with "So, you're the guys that are going to send me to med school on a free ride, right?". Apparently I've been through all of them cause they finally got the message and stopped calling.
    Enjoy!

Google Chrome's Do Not Track Me, (and also AdBlock), could be useful.

You may wish to consider scanning with Malwarebytes. Great little program. Free version runs on demand, and will do a very good job. You will have to update manually with the free version, but that is no biggie. I use the free version.

Not only that but the speed to witch an Ad pops up at a site you visit
that just happens to be a product you researched.Any product you research
is gonna pop-up at many sites you visit. Now the next question.
Can your computer actually spy on you.Watch you thru the screen, let's say.
A Smart TV can. Especially a Samsung.
I just bought a Samsung Blue-ray player and the remote is set up so you
almost have to sign up for Netflix. Most the buttons on the remote are situated
to prompt you to a appt to sign in for some kind of social network.
Whereas you'll be spied on Big time. Like Facebook or even YouTube.
Facebook & YouTube have been grafted by this current adm. to do just that.
To spy on everything you say,to be used later as a way to Frame-up.
After all it's the Chicago way.Frank Nitti knew what he was doing.
he taught Saul Alinsky all about it one summer.
Alinsky as a struggling college student was mentored by Frank Nitti
one summer. In the ways of intimidation and enforcement.
