In 1986 about 3 million illegal aliens got amnesty

Today I suspect we have 25 to 30 million illegals

But no one can say sure

    The polling is supect!

Well, there's a lot of it, going back two years.

You don't know the questions that were asked? Why is that? Too lazy to do even minimal research? Most articles on polls link you directly to the poll, where you are inevitably invited to view all the accompanying documentation.

Instead, you just make stuff up. And demonstate your own decision to be obtuse by manufacturing a flimsy excuse for disregarding fact.

Trumpism is not Americanism. It's weakness, selfishness, greed and weakness.

    Trump is a loser.

Sorry, but Trump and the forces of retreat, weakness and fear have already lost.

That is the deal, right? We really do not know, and educated and uneducated guesses are used as stats.

And you cannot ask on a census if someone is here illegally, right? The means of getting a handle on the numbers(which should be relevant) is out of reach, for you cannot ask such things on a census. What smart fellow came up with that brilliant limitation? ha ha

You're right - it isn't for the American people - it is for Trump and his ego. His mouth took him where his feet can't bring him back and he is desperate to save face. It's pathetic. It might be something he did in business, but it is not appropriate behavior for a president of the US.

    Democrat platform for immigration.

    Sneak into America
    Exploit American social programs
    Commit crimes against Americans
    Get deported
    Repeat.

Obama deported more people then any other president because he was deporting the same people multiple times.

Why do you think CBS won't provide links to their poll? Always fascinating when they do that.

With Progressives funding BS projects for the same amount, (i.e. California's train to nowhere), why do you think this is the hill the New Democratic Party wants to die on?

79% of Republicans do support it. They are rational enough to know that the so-called "wall" is one of the best investments our country could ever make.

Trump wants about an extra $3.4 billion to fund the wall, on top of the $1.6 billion already allocated. Do you realize that the federal gov't currently spends about $10 billion dollars every day, with no tangible return on that investment. Yet a measly one time expenditure of $3.4 billion would reduce the amount we spend each year on illegal immigration by well over $3.4 billion, and with the added benefit of securing our border for many years to come.

Unless one is actively seeking to destroy our country, there is no reason for anyone not to support the best investment we could ever make, the $3.4 billion to build the wall.

You mean the Americanism as referred to by Pres. Teddy Roosevelt? Well, trump is closer to that Americanism than the Democratic Party is, in principle.

Trump has done things that were in dire need of being done, and essential things based upon not right wants and desires or left wants and desires, but simple intelligence. I am not surprised that modern democrats have a hard time in discerning intelligence being employed. ha ha

"Do you realize that the federal gov't currently spends about $10 billion dollars every day, with no tangible return on that investment." I just love that. Another Trump transactionalist, just what any nation needs. What, pray, would you consider a "tangible return?" What do Americans get for investing in America? So how do you measure a "tangible return on Trump's wall? Because it is Trump's wall. Not mine, that's for sure. Not most Americans, ditto.

I am so glad you asked. Since your "question" didn't really mention the wall specifically, just 'voting results', I happen to have those handy.

From a very recent election, in fact.... 2018... you might remember it

    SNIP
Democratic House candidates won 58,990,609 votes while their Republican counterparts pulled in 50,304,975.
That means that, so far, Democrats won 53.1 percent of all votes counted while Republicans earned 45.2 percent.
    ENDSNIP

    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/el...vote-largest-midterm-margin-watergate-n938996

So, if you like raw numbers (and I KNOW you do not), that's approx 8.6 million (I rounded down)
If you prefer percentages, that's 7.9%

I'm pretty sure an approximation of those voting results can be extrapolated to the asshats wall...

Corker is a rope walker, talks tough but toes the party line regardless. Not even sure why he is opining on this topic.

The primary point of the poll (awesome alliteration) escapes you.... The key number is 66% of Independents, of which I include myself by definition... Toss the other 2 groups out, since they basically cancel each other out.

Had dinner last night with a new friend of a relative... voted for Trump in 2016 (under the ridiculous guise of 'change'). Freely admitted he made a huge mistake long term and won't consider it again REGARDLESS who the D's run in 2020. We let him stay for dessert....

Not according to Mick (Mulvaney, not Jagger, although Jagger would likely be a better person to have in a government administration)

    SNIP
"Technically, you and I both know that it cannot work exactly like that. ... Department of Homeland Security can’t actually spend money from Mexico. We have to get it from Treasury," Mulvaney said during an interview on ABC's "This Week."

The wall is nothing but a symbol that Trump wishes he could point to, a physical manifestation of something he promised. The reality is that it's a Maginot Line for the 21st century. Billions and billions of dollars for something that the vast majority of people overstaying their visas or vacations literally *flew* right over without giving it a second thought. Trump's wall is a diversion, an ineffective boondoggle, red meat.

It's a pleasure to watch him flounder.

Trump does want to keep his word

    Imagine that

Many people do overstay their visa but not as many
as those who sneak actoss the mexcan border

Good post,... I always like to see the Maginot Line mentioned in Wall threads, because, while not directly akin to "our" wall, it's certainly what many logical people tie this to.

I also like that as an unofficial anti-Trump slogan for 2020 (of many to choose from)

"Trump 2020 - The ineffective boondoggle"... Let him figure out what it means...
