I remember noting that Massad Ayoob stated in one of his LFI classes, that some states made a concealed knife a more serious offense than a gun. He noted that the old men who wrote the laws could see packing a pistol-but saw someone with a knife as a stone cold killer.
Exactly. The only way you can utilize a knife in self defense is to stab/cut the second you get within range. A gun can be used as a holdoff weapon. You can threaten with a gun, and hopefully not have to pull the trigger. You have to use a knife.
In the last few weeks I have been asked to participate in a poll and to sign a petition. In regard to the poll, I read it over carefully, I could tell the poll was designed to yield results intended to be used to support Republican narratives. Despite being a Civil Libertarian, one that leans a bit to the right, I declined to play. I refuse to be led and used if I can avoid it. The petition I was asked to sign was for advocating against nuclear power. Considering I understand a bit about nuclear power and that there are options that don’t generate dangerous waste products, don’t have the risk of run away reactions, and don’t produce weapons material (why the Government pushed the tech currently predominate in the world) I began to question the person asking for signature if the petition was to blanket advocate against all nuclear power, or specific types, or using nuclear power for producing weapons material, or to make a statement about long term risks, or.... the fellow looked at me and said, I don’t have time for you I am busy. In other words, he wasn’t looking to explain why his petition should be signed, what purpose it was to be used for, but was only looking to collect signature of those agreeing blindly with the general uninformed idea of opposition to anything ‘nuclear power’ based... ignorance is power...particularly when leveraged to purpose.
Airliners are hard to hijack I'd imagine, but getting your wings and buying a biplane isn't that hard. Maybe we should make it harder?
Harder than what? What do you know about the process, requirements and cost of obtaining a pilot’s license and of the cost of procuring a bi-plane? Just a run to Walmart, eh?
Uh huh... and bi planes are inexpensive, eh? Really, cheaper than say a Cessna 152 or a 172? And, so you get a bi-plane....what then? Getting a pilot’s license is hard? Explain to me what your definition of hard is. What makes it hard?
