...and he needs to grab a weapon to carry out his massacre, his rampage in a shopping mall. Do you want him to have a knife or an assault rifle?
As long as he doesn't use the van from Nice which killed more than any mass shooting in US history and which anyone with $200 and a drivers license can get, I'm happy. I'd have chucked in handguns as an option since they will never be illegal in the US and are responsible for the most deadly school shooting in US history.
Several mass stabbings in foreign countries have successfully rivaled mass shootings in the united states. Ask the deceased what difference was ultimately made by the difference in utilized implements.
The pro gunners have gone quiet, obvious why. Those that did comment, obviously didn't answer the question and even tried to derail.
Assault rifle are very very expensive, so I choose bomb. Much cheaper and easier than an assault rifle, kill more than a knife probably but no means certainly.
Good point. Please don't forget the Happy Land massacre in which a dollar's worth of "assault gasoline" was used to kill 87 people: "Happy Land fire" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_Land_fire EXCERPT "González went to an Amoco gas station, then returned to the establishment with a plastic container with $1 worth of gasoline.[2][4] He spread the fuel at the base of a staircase, the only access into the club, and then ignited the gasoline.[5] Eighty-seven people died in the resulting fire."CONTINUED The fact is that determined mass killers are not restricted to only semi-automatic rifles or knives. There are innumerable objects and substances that can serve as weapons capable of killing dozens of people. I believe that the deadliest mass school killing on record remains a simple home made bomb(1) (1) "The 1927 Bombing That Remains America’s Deadliest School Massacre" "Ninety years ago, a school in Bath, Michigan was rigged with explosives in a brutal act that stunned the town" https://www.smithsonianmag.com/hist...chool-massacre-180963355/#KSipwm4IUrIbB9uc.99 EXCERPTS "In the end 44 people died, 38 of them students. It wasn’t the first bombing in the country’s history—at least eight were killed during the Haymarket Square rally in Chicago in 1886, and 30 when a bomb exploded in Manhattan in 1920. But none had been so deadly as this, or affected so many children."CONTINUED
Foolish question. I did answer in my comments. When no adequate answer choices are allowed on a poll, people respond accordingly. When did you stop beating your wife?
Point taken, but keep in mind the Las Vegas mass murderer was a person of considerable financial means and could easily have obtained those guns off the black market. There will still be criminals and robbers who have illegal guns, albeit somewhat fewer of them. Do you think those businesses, like a jewelry store, should be able to have a gun to protect their expensive property? We're talking display cases that may contain $100,000 in jewelry.
And you wonder why polls are often mistrusted? A great example of how to stack one to get results for a narrative you’ve already planned, even if you can only get a handful to take the bait. How about, If an evil person intent on committing a massacre in a shopping mall with a gun started shooting would you rather, 1) have citizens armed that can respond? Or 2)have citizens disarmed and line up like sheep to slaughter? Pick one. The method is functionally equivalent to yours, but the target narrative is the antithesis of yours. BTW, if body count is the objective, I would argue a knife has greater potential than a rifle. If you don’t think that true, then you haven’t thought it through... and have a preconception based on past incidents that isn’t a reflection of how such an objective would be achieved, thus calling to question, both motive and objective in such scenarios.
The guy in question is going to commit the atrocity. So he's grabbed the weapon. His choice was knife or assault rifle. Which one did you hope he picked? They may be various reasons behind your choice, that's for you to wrestle with, but which one did you want him to go for?
Yes, you could post a poll like that if you wish. But derailing aside, this guy has issues, he feels aggrieved that the store didn't refund his box of breakfast cereal and the store is out to get him. So he's gone home an grabbed a weapon to go and cause havoc. The weapon of choice was knife or assault rifle. He's picked one up and heading down to the mall where the store is located. Did you hope he picked the knife or assault rifle up? Then just tick the relevent option in the poll. I can't believe that such a simple poll is causing such trickyness!! Did I make it too difficult, are there too many options?
I'm going to pick the 2A that allows me to carry a firearm to defend myself against whatever my attacker gets his hands on. If you think the government will protect you...well...we see the current condition of the UK violent crime rate increases. If gun laws made you safer, your violent crime wouldn't be going up.
