I didn't always agree politically, but I will refuse to hear anyone's argument that they're not good and honorable people.

I'm happy to hear that Mr. Carter is recovering from his recent injury. I think that it's great that they're both still alive. :salute:

I agree. I think Jimmy was over his head when he got to Washington and had to deal with the swamp creatures from both parties. He definitely made a few missteps but I truly believe that he was the last President who really had the interest of the people in mind whenever he made a decision. His life since he left office should serve as an example for American kids for generations to come. Both he and Rosalyn are exemplary human beings.

He graciously accepted his election lost to Reagan. Are you listening Hillary, Gore, and Stacey Abrams?

Regardless of what anyone may think of his service as President, there is no doubt that he is recent history's greatest ex-President.

I agree that Jimmy is a very decent human being; and so far as I know, that includes Rosalynn as well. He was a lousy president, but is a great human being.

He was a god awful president and who cares how nice he is in real life, there are lots of nice people.

He didn't have missteps, he blatantly sucked at his job.

He also said he would release all the governments UFO information once he became president because he saw one once but as soon as he was elected he shut up about that real quick.

    He lied to us.

He was a girlie man as president and embarrassed this nation more than any other president by letting everyone and everything walk all over him.

He even pardoned all the draft dodgers that ran up to Canada on his first day in office when he should have been prosecuting them.

    I care.

His service as Presdent is only peripherally related to the topic.

I didn't like his Presidency. Nor did I like that of Clinton's or Obama's.

Of the three, there is no question. I would love to have Mr. and Mrs. Carter as neighbors. Those other two can pound sand, as far as I'm concerned.

So you made a thread about a nice guy?

What does that have to do with politics?

Carter is the oldest of our former Presidents. Only he and G. W. Bush are outstanding people. Only Rosalynn Carter and Laura Bush are outstanding people.

The thread is about a political person approaching his end of days. I'm hoping that he gets a sendoff comparable to what the elder Bush got. I hope that Clinton gets dumped into the East River. I hope that Obama gets a state funeral that no one shows up for.

I am an older guy. I have old-fashioned ideals. I think that Mr. Carter should be garnered a certain degree of respect for his basic decency.

Well I disagree with you on so many different levels its pointless to even go into them.

It is your thread so I will not troll it.

I'm sure he will get a decent send off when his time arrives as all presidents do.

Are you hitting the sauce too hard Spooky? You seem to be really negative and cranky lately. Mix it up and try some mushrooms or smoke a fatty once in a while. I’m worried about you.

I also think that his recent injury didn't receive the proper amount of attention by the news media.

Both Clinton and Obama will no doubt be given great send offs. They will be remembered as two successful 2 term Presidents who left office with the country in a hell of a lot better shape than they found it. Bush II will also get a great sendoff though the same definitely can’t be said about him.

It was reported but what do you want them to do?

Make a national holiday out of it or something?

Neither Clinton nor Obama had to deal with what Bush had to deal with either.

No, I'm saying that neither Obama nor Clinton had to deal with an attack on our nation.

    You can't compare their situations.

Neither ones national security teams sat there picking their noses while we got bludgeoned here at home either then started two idiotic bloody decades long multi trillion dollar turd hunts. And unlike old GW neither left with the economy going down the toilet. I know you are young and don’t remember, but I sure do.

Actually it was Clinton picking his nose that allowed Bin Laden to pull off what he did.

    That has been proven.

And it was our vaunted intelligence services that the left so loves today that informed Bush he must act because Iraq had WMD's.

What would you have done.....call them liars?

Debatable, but not the topic of this thread.

Thank you for your contributions. Your most recent post notwithstanding.

No such thing has been proven. Cheney/Bush and their whole chicken hawk crew were the worst disaster in the last 60 years. Their national security team was pure crap and instead of firing them he promoted most of them. Clinton was out chasing tail while those guys screwed the pooch. Like the sign on old Harry Truman’s desk said: “The buck stops here”....

I was responding to your post about Clinton and Obama being thrown in the East River and a rosy send off for the great GW Bush....My response was on topic and quite reasonable. That said, my little head to head with Spooky is off topic and if I choose to remain on your thread I will get back to the topic which is the decency of Jimmy Carter. Cheers
