A different viewpoint ............ President Obama's first inauguration was held during the depths of the Great Recession.
The economy had lost nearly 3.6 million jobs in 2008 and was shedding jobs at a nearly 800,000 per month rate when he took office.

Trump only accomplishment was not to screw up the Great Economy he inherited in spite of Trumps effort to do so thru Bad Trade Tariffs decisions

 

Obama inherited a housing bubble burst and the economy had bottomed out. He presided over the slowest post war recovery in history and did so with his focus on obamacare and his funding for shovel ready jobs that never got funded because the money instead was spread around for political payoffs. By the end if his second term the economy was stagnant and obama called it the new normal saying those jobs aren't coming back.
Enter Trump. Obamas job killing anti corporation policies were systematically repealed. Manufacturing job started coming back, wages started rising, blacks and Latinos set record high employment levels, stock market went on a tear. Its basically a repeat of the Carter malaise and the following Reagan boom years which turned into decades.

 

Construction led the way and during recoveries GDP usually soars.

 

I wouldn't sell to raise cash for a cruise ship or airline ticket unless you really like pathogens. Maybe sell to raise cash to buy the coming dip because corona is going to get a lot uglier before it gets prettier.

 

Strongest growth is usually when we come out of recessions when their is plenty of room for it. Once you reach full employment and have a restricted labor force it's hard to reach those levels. Business had to turn to productivity gains which in fact is good for wags and salaries and as we see those are showing solid gains.

 

Not only that, the 225,000 "new" jobs number is completely FAKE!

Obama inherited what two years of a Democrat Congress, of which Obama was a full voting member, had helped produce with their lack of policies to try to mitigate the slowdown which then turned into a recession and in fact policies that exacerbated that and a loss of business and consumer confidence.

If you follow the historical numbers the more the Republicans took back the better things got under their policies.

I'm semi retired and work while retired.. Why sit around with your thumb up your ass? Walking five miles a day gets pretty boring when you could use the same energy to make a buck, work a little harder at it and maybe take that extra money and help real people in destress around your community
