You're saying religious people spend 1/2 their time prostelyizing in the public arena?

You're right, I have no idea what your 'insight' even is. Again, I have no intention of proving to you or anyone else a god doesn't exist. Everyone makes up their own versions of a god and believes what they want. It would be fruitless to try to prove to them what they have imagined in their minds to be real.

ISIS makes up 1/1000000 of the world, they prove nothing except there are small groups who want control by violence and force. A claimed, religious group. I don't believe they are. They just use religion as a tool to control. Which is what most religions are made to do.

All sorts of self serving assumptions.
The church has always enjoyed making the rules. The biblical references show might is right as the basis of good/evil argument.
Ecclesiastic power through guilt, very moral!
If any god wanted to make themselves worshipped like some insecure trump in the clouds, I am sure that they would have made themselves known by now, rather relying on the credulity of the emotionally fragile or brainwashed children.

By all means let no man deceive you, for that day shall not come lest there come a falling away first, and the man of sin revealed, the son of perdition. No man knows the day or the hour, not even Christ, only the Father.

But we do know the season (things that are taken place on earth), and the signs he warned us of. If one is without the spirit, they will not see it, rather God's delusion is upon them, for they care not of the truth. Yes, God sends a great delusion, so great that if were it possible even the very elect would be deceived. The very elect is God's people. They will not be deceived, and more than likely most will have to lose their heads, from people such as yourself. For it is not now, but then that you will feel killing Christians will be ok and just.

21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
    (King James Bible Matthew 7:21-23)

So why the response? Is it merely to divide us further, those of faith and those without? Are you just looking for violence wanting the spread thereof? Why would you even respond in such a meaningless manner?

Who said He was supposed to be her in 2017? Someones guess, or is it for profit? The sect Jehovahs Witness was founded on the claim that God would return in 1897, and was here in 1894. Then it was 1899 with His presence finally in 1914. And the list goes on. Yet scripture says none know of the day of His return (Mark 13:32). And scripture also says in the last days there will be a falling away, and there will be false teachers (1Timothy 4: 1-5).

So, be patient. God will come when He decides, not to satisfy you, or anyone else.

BTW, Trump was supported by a great many false teachers (Franklin Graham, Joel Osteen, James Dobson, Jerry faslwell Jr., to name a few) however, he is not the Christ, nor is he the anti-Christ. He is just a sign of the corruption that is filling the earth.

Just as a question, do you know what the "Church" was in the time of Christ, and for the first 300 years following His death?

No I don't. I would like to meet someone who does though.
To talk to someone who could describe the manipulations of Paul, enmeshing the Jehoshua story with that of the Greek Chrestus and the teachings of Socrates with the birthday of Mithras, creating a new testament without a single eye-witness account and disseminating epistles to north Africa and around the Mediterranean. The decent into schism over transubstantiation when the various branches of the church refused to agree what was gospel and what wasn't. It would be interesting to hear how the Chief Charlatans managed to inveigle their fairy stories into the mythology of the increasingly corrupt Roman Empire.

Well, I was actually speaking of the physical Church, and its activities, not the fantasies of the non-believer.

Then maybe you would be better off ignoring the conversations since all you seem to want to do is advance your own lack of belief, and disparage that of others.

So, what I wrote were fantasies?
    Shall we examine that?

"To talk to someone who could describe the manipulations of Paul, enmeshing the Jehoshua story with that of the Greek Chrestus and the teachings of Socrates with the birthday of Mithras..."

Paul never met Jesus(Greek version of Aramaic name Jehoshua), The xristos story comes from Greek mythology and involves a resurrection. Socrates was around 400 years beforehand but his philosophy of turning the other cheek and describing how God arranges everything for the best seem to have made their way into the new testament. Mithras was a Persian demigod who feasted with Sol and was born, curiously at mid-winter(Yuletide), and worshipped widely by the Roman military until 4th century when it was prohibited by the church.

" creating a new testament without a single eye-witness account and disseminating epistles to north Africa and around the Mediterranean."

Paul had many correspondents around the Mediterranean, with whom he maintained contact by letter, discussing the meanings of Jehoshua's life and passing. There are no contemporary writings referring to the life or death, all that remains are the gospels as laid down by Paul and his disciples, and these were written in Greek at least 30 years later.

"The descent into schism over transubstantiation when the various branches of the church refused to agree what was gospel and what wasn't."

    (Just corrected spelling of descent).
During the 3rd and 4th centuries CE the various diversities that called themselves christian, needed to come together to agree which accounts of the many that they had, would end up as the New Testament. Because the westerners wanted the bread and wine during communion to actually become the blood and flesh of the christ, and the easterners baulked at the idea and so the churches split into what became the roman catholics and the orthodox christians. This was called the schism. As for the books of the new testament they decided separately themselves after that. They even have different dates for xmas and easter.

Other than that, I see nothing wrong suggesting that the chief religionists of the church sought to be recognised by the Emporer, he even waited to convert until he was on his deathbed, so he didn't need to change his lifestyle.
I don't expect argument from you, for suggesting that the Roman Empire was increasingly corrupt.

As for what the physical church was doing, well we'll have to refer back to Paul, and his reports of his disagreements with Peter and James back in Jerusalem, when he broke bread with gentiles and ate food that was not kosher.

Please let me know all the bits that you consider fantasy, I think I've covered them all, and then some.

Problem is you are still trying to discuss your fantasies, not the subject I raised which was the activities of the Church, not Paul, during the first three hundred years.

And the first sentence was "In 1217,(*) a year of Jubilee, the Jewish Rabbi Judah Ben Samuel prophesied about the final 10 Jubilees before the Messianic Kingdom would begin, to Christians that means when Jesus returns."

Now, I will ask again, who says He was supposed to return? Next question, since when did a Jewish Rabbi represent, or speak for, Christianity?

Jesus was supposed to return "riding on the clouds" in the generation of those he was addressing.

That never happened so forgive me for not holding my breath on a 2017 second coming.

I like the "riding on the clouds" analogy though - It was another Son of El named Baal who was known as the rider of the clouds.

Could it be that Jesus is Baal ?

I am really being very patient with you. Please point out the parts of my answer to you, that you consider to be fantasy.
I don't believe you can ,either because you recognise the historically factual basis to my response and can't argue with it, or because your personal faith is based on delusive thinking and deep down you know it.
Without Paul, there would have been no early church, he was a marketing genius.

If that's what you get out of "rod of iron". I myself get a totally different meaning, not so much the weapon He has, but the way in which He will rule. For the only weapon He needs, is His tongue.

Who says he's supposed to return? The person who wrote the title of the thread , Jesus returns in 2017

...and I won't argue further since he isn't returning at anytime and predictions he will have always been good for a laugh and a headshake but not much else....:)
