"Thou shalt not steal" private property was a commandment because all people had private property. Make sense now?
james M - Anarchist believing in "sharing" can be Leftist too. If you are committed to what you upload then - I have some land I'd like to sell you in the hurricane free zone of Florida. On the high ground with a granite base. BTW my upload was directed to crank. Your reply was predictable from earlier conversation.
Horsefeathers. Giving to a church for your imaginary friend is not the same as helping the poor. Take away tax deductions and we'd see. The GOP show their disdain for the poor with every budget. You KNOW I am right. Christ was not for temporal power, definitely NOT for the rich. "As you do to the least of mine...." Christ was NOT a fascist.
Jesus did not teach people how to think, he told people what to think... there is a distinct difference. Jefferson was a Christian Deist who took a razor to the Bible and removed all the fantastical claims thus creating the Jefferson Bible. America was founded upon an amalgam of Christian and Enlightenment era thinkers. Christ also taught Christians to not judge, to be loving and tolerant, something that far too few Christians I know follow. I think more Christians need to ask themselves in compromising or tense situations... WWJD? I see Jesus as a liberal as he was loving and tolerant towards others which again I see so many Christians missing the mark on. I doubt that Jesus would give a **** if a Christian baker made a cake for a gay couple.
What blood?? it created the 10 commandments and all that makes us civilized. before Christ we were romans who went to the coliseum to watch people being eaten alive for entertainment. Where do you think our ideas about love came from if not from Christ?
our subject is not pride but rather which party really cares more about people. conservatives give more to charity than liberals ? What does that teach you?
wrong of course he left no doctrine his followers debated for years what Christ meant and are still doing it today. Christianity is a debate. If you go to the Vatican you will see schools of Athens painting showing all previous thinkers because Christianity respected that and sought to reconcile previous philosophical thought
Nah, from what I've studied & read, the 10 commandments et al. long precede Christianity. Or are you giving credit to Christianity for lifting the tenets of Judaism? It seems to me that there's a commandment about that. What made/makes us civilized and our ideas about love came from Judaism - & the Old Testament & the notion of the Messiah, the Christ, Yahweh. Through what eventually came to be called Christianity, to be sure. & the OT is taken to be prologue to the New Testament. The mass of Judaism is not convinced, however.
Precisely. The Founding Fathers just knew that these upstart nations and enemies of Jesus were in fact created for the sole intention of invading the US, and then fill it with liberal stuff - which they wisely forbade, effectively creating the individual. Good thing the white hats won, huh?
Very very few (relatively speaking) humans own property. Most own a bed, some clothes, and a bicycle.
The Crusades for starters. Yet most inmates in our prisons identify as Christian. If the 10 commandments are the Christian code of conduct then why do so many Christians not live up to them? I am sure love exsisted before Christ. Jesus did not invent love.
Perhaps the Churches that you attend operate differently than the Churches that I attended. The Churches I attended taught conformity as opposed to free thinking. Do you see Jesus as one who preaches free thought? If so I would be interested in seeing scripture that you have read that support the idea of free thinking people.
The part where it says the federal government has only a few carefully enumerated powers. Why do you think our liberals spied for Hitler and Stalin gave Stahelin the bomb, and elected Bernie Sanders an open socialist if not because they despise our founders idea of enumerated powers or freedom from big liberal government
I believe that before Christ taught us love we were Romans who went to the Colosseum to watch innocent people being eaten alive
