There is nothing wrong or racist at all with calling the Chinese virus the china virus.

Nick naming viruses has always and will always be a thing as it has a practical purpose.

It helps society as a whole remember what the virus was and where it came from in the future. That’s why its been done in the past.

Do you suspect that there is someone living under a rock somewhere who does not know this nasty seems to have originated in Wuhan? If you must have a pet name for it, why not Wuhan virus? Why make it the China virus?

 

Wuhan virus is acceptable as well, some people do call it that.

Wuhan is not racist, but geographic. It is obvious that some, many, regard China Virus as racist. So, how about, if you want accuracy, you call it the Wuhan Virus?

It’s accurate enough to call it the china virus, or the Chinese virus, the wuhan virus, etc. All are acceptable.

 

China is not a race. The very claim in and of itself is incredibly insulting to most Asians.

I am not buying that. You wanted future generations to know where it came from. Well, it came from Wuhan. That you choose to enlarge that into the China virus is strongly indicative of racist intent. It seems to me that those who use that term are attempting to demonise Chinese people, you know, 'they eat bats' and all that stuff. The most deadly virus on the Planet is named Hendra Virus. Hendra is a suburb of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, the South Pacific. It is aptly called the Hendra virus. not the Brisbane virus, not the Queensland virus, not the Australia virus, not the South Pacific virus....the Hendra virus. Get it?
