Here you have 13 bad apples getting high and drunk at lunch, going back to work and putting their fellow union workers at risk and they get their jobs back. These are the types of workers that the union is good for. These are the types of guys that would have never been hired back without the union behind them.

actually whats even more interesting about this whole story... this happened back in february of 2014... and they seem to be reporting this in july of 2015 as some breaking news story...

whats even more amazing, is the very factory he works at, might not be making the new 2017 jeeps... because the company simply doesn't want to spend the $400 million needed to retool and design the plant to accommodate it... when they already have other plants in non-union areas that are already tooled for most of it and would only cost $100 million in order to accomplish this... so plumber joe might be the first union guy laid off since he was so recently hired... you know that good ole union benefit of being laid off before others even if you work harder than they do, just comes down to who was hired last...

you know whats even crazier than all that... the factory plumber joe works at, wouldn't have been created if it wasn't for the government using eminent domain to take land away from home owners in order to build the facility... people lost their homes for that factory to be built in the first place back in 1999... or did everyone forget that... since 1999 that single factory has received in excess of $500 million in public money to open it, and keep it open... how much should we subsidize unions???

how many hundreds of millions more will taxpayers need to keep production in this facility?

will unions offer any concessions to keep their jobs, or will they not bend, and demand other taxpayers pay for their jobs? (the same ones who lost their homes to eminent domain when the factory was first built) what if the taxpayers say no? will unions budge then, or will you see the factory shuttered and the jeeps made in the non-union plants? who will pay for it all in the end... who should pay for these high union wages, the people buying the jeeps, or the taxpayers of ohio?

P.S. they are still deciding where to build the new jeep... they can't afford ot shut down that plant which means the current plant is extremely unlikely to build the new vehicle... which means it will be built someplace else, especially where its more economically viable... and they'll move a much slower less important model to this plant once the other one is up and running... which means this plant is likely to be scaled back in reality, if not entirely... just pay very close attention to the careful wording by the CEO... he's very gentle about this whole issue, but clearly can not make a case for building it there or else he'd have said yes already...

It has always been that way. Work, skimp, save, pray, hope, pay off the mortgage, sacrifice and be frugal. And btw, about half the people are grossly fat anymore from eating too much. The fantasy is on the left.

they aren't called illegals at the automotive plants in mexico... they are called legal union busters... granted many of those factories are way more automated than the american factories... not because its cheaper than mexican labor, but because of quality concerns... kind of ironic... so now americans and mexicans don't get jobs... lol

He is certainly entitled to work elsewhere if he was opposed to working union. I turned down non-union jobs in my youth because I wanted to work union.

There are plenty of other non-union jobs out there he could have chose from. I guess he liked the pay scale and benefits the contract offered. Oh and the job security as well.

I agree that they do increase wages, better benefits and also better working conditions. All I know is that my union did an excellent job representing not only me, but all of the workers; we only had one worker who wasn't a member and that was due to political reasons (or so he told us) so the union must have done something right. I recently retired and enjoy an excellent pension and benefits package. If i had to do it all over again, I would. I think as more and more people grow older, they worry more about retirement and job security since for many people this is important, unions will become more important for them.

 

Except that if the job is in michigan or another right to work state, he didn't have to join the union nor pay any dues or fees.
