"Former White House chief of staff John Kelly on Wednesday said that he does not view the media as “the enemy of the people” while speaking at an event. The media, in my view, and I feel very strongly about this, is not the enemy of the people" “We need a free media,” he continued. “That said, you have to be careful about what you are watching and reading, because the media has taken sides. So if you only watch Fox News, because it's reinforcing what you believe, you are not an informed citizen," he added." https://thehill.com/ And before the onslaught of personal attacks on General Kelly by the right commence, keep in mind "Trump praises Kelly" https://www.politico.com/story/2018/...-praise-358255 "Trump praises John Kelly" https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/n...rson-gets-axed "President Trump asks John Kelly to stay on as chief of staff through 2020" https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/pres...ry?id=56941073 "Trump Heaped Praise On Kelly" https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/pres...ry?id=56941073 "Trump Praises ‘Very Elegant’ Kelly" https://freebeacon.com/politics/trum...ent-sickening/ Got to love the, "so if you only watch Fox News you are not an informed citizen," like anyone outside of the Fox bubble didn't already know that but it is telling coming from a Trump appointee
Well if you have to be careful about what you are watching then the media is dangerous because it will give you inaccurate info because the bias cant help itself . The media is also a conduit for CIA planted stories and narriative to support their actions in perpetual war. Kelly is a neocon for over the years the military was purged of non neocons. I have no use for neocons for they are an enemy to what our republic was founded on. People forget this . America was not supposed to be a war mongerer that the nuts call national security . What a joke .
I believe it is in reference to a tweet made last year: https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1114221533461790721
The MSM is the enemy of the people. The MSM is the propaganda arm of the Democratic Party. Kelly is obviously a liberal who is butthurt that Trump fired him. But he is clueless about what and what is not a free press, and the MSM is decidedly not a free press.
He's right about only watching one news source. Same if you only watch CNN or NBC. They're different flavors of establishment propaganda. FOX is Neocon RINO flavored. General Kelly is an establishmentarianist. One does not become a General otherwise. Of course the corporate media is not his enemy. But its certainly the enemy of any antiestablishment movement.
The MSM is extremely bias, which is indirect conflict with what the purpose of the press is supposed to be. The majority of the MSM has turned into the publicity arm of the DNC. As to Kelly, don't really give a **** what he thinks. I don't need someone to tell me how what my opinion should be. I can figure that out without the help of the MSM. I get my news from several sources and don't trust any single source.
It really depends on your POV. If you have a media that picks sides and spins stories to make the side they like to look like awesome people or spin their stories to make the side they don't like to look like crappy people then I'd say that they are the enemy of the people. Why? Because they are no longer a news media, they're a propaganda center for their side. And propaganda centers tend to spin to the point of being dishonest....if not out right lying. This happens because they become more interested in propping up their side and denigrating the opposite side in order to push THEIR agenda, instead of propping up the truth. If I took the headlines from CNN and Fox News about the same exact basic story they would be completely different. Of course those that are partisans will no doubt say that one is telling the truth while the other is lying. In reality they are BOTH telling the truth (for the most part), but they are both also being dishonest. When you read/watch the stories they will both have common elements in them, but mixed in with those elements is opinion based rhetoric. And most people fail to tell the difference between fact vs opinion. Another way that they spin the stories is by telling you only PART of something. For instance I read a CNN article today talking about how prosecutors "across the nation" are fearful and worried about the DoJ interfering in cases. Then they name a few names in a couple of states on each side of the US who give their opinions on the matter that is in line with what the conclusion is that they want to spread. What they won't tell you about is any dissenting opinions that are no doubt out there. And they know there is dissenting opinions. There always is. But by excluding them then they make it appear as if this opinion about the DoJ is widespread. Widespread enough to cause serious concern. So yeah, by spinning things, telling only half the truth, denigrating any that doesn't toe their line, and disguising opinion as fact they are actively trying to influence people instead of letting the people decide for themselves. That is exactly what State run media does in countries like Russia, China, NK, and Iran does. That is antithetical in a country that is about freedom and Rights. Which in my opinion, makes them an enemy of the people.
The media has its own agenda and that agenda is not aligned with the interests of the American people.
The media became the enemy of the people when they stopped reporting news and started creating it to push their agenda. Now it's more opinion and half truths than facts...
Sounds to me like Kelly wants a job at CNN or MSNBC. If they hired McCabe, they would hire Homer Simpson if he defended the media.
But if you only watch MSNBC you are? I've had Fox News on this morning drinking my coffee and have seen a WIDE variety of guest and topics from every viewpoint. Far more than on the other channels.
Unfortunately we have too many people who get suckered into conspiracies and a Pres that promotes them.
Just because Trump praises someone doesn't mean he agrees with them on everything. Also, conservatives aren't necessarily mega-fans of John Kelly or see him as an authority on the media.
You certainly got the first part right, execute Trump's wishes and he will praise you, challenge him and you become an "enemy," "traitor," "evil," "dumb," stupid," "crooked," "dishonest," "lousy," or an array of other personal attacks Trump selected the General for his cabinet, and even promoted him from Secretary of Homeland Security to Chief of State, Trump's actions certainly doesn't sound like he wasn't a fan of Kelly. And he is not an authority on the media, but, having served on Trump's team he is certainly familiar with the relationship between Trump and FOX and how FOX's presentation of facts and events are framed in Trump's favor, ergo, his advice if you want to be really informed you have to watch more than just FOX, in other words, "if you only watch Fox News you are not an informed citizen"
Fox does not present "topics from every viewpoint," if you think any guest on "Fox and Friends," or any of the nightly prime time demagogues' are there representing other points of view you are incorrect, for the most part they are house liberals, and as has been exposed, are given a script to follow
The MSM is committed to a one-party state. They don't report the facts and truth anymore than Elizabeth Warren is capable of telling the truth. Fox is semi-okay in that they present challenges to the deep state and Democrats, but they don't tell the truth about what the actual criminals from both parties are doing.
Totally, he said he would have worked for Hillary had she won and asked him. It says a lot that Kelly goes out of his way to attack the only news outlet not in the tank for the Swamp/LW.
Here is an excellent piece about Kelly. https://www.redstate.com/streiff/2020/02/14/john-kelly-speech-disingenuous/
The media, as a generality, is not the enemy of the people ---- but today's biased, agenda-pushing, propaganda-spewing mainstream media is absolutely a huge problem.
As I said, if anyone knew Trump's "special" relationship with FOX it would be a Trump insider, one in Trump's cabinet, which Kelly was, actually just about as close to Trump as anyone could get, Chief of Staff, he is just endorsing what everyone else outside the FOX bubble knows, "if you only watch FOX news you are not an informed citizen"
If I watched ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, or MSNBC I would have learned that Hillary was going to be President and Robert Mueller was going to bring down the president. I would do better TMZ & the National Enquirer.
