Traditional Jewish Law. However in recent years the area around the Temple Mount has become surrounded by settlers who are increasingly going in praying with the protection of the Israeli army and generally Muslims bit by bit are being prohibited from worship. Just like with everything else the Colonisers are illegally gradually taking it away.
Israel is a mostly secular country calling them Jewish is a bit incorrect. I think the best case for the Palestinians would be a one state solution and the integration of the Palestinian people into Israeli society.
Really? My understanding is that anyone can go to the Temple Mount but you can't pray there unless you are Muslim. Sounds racist to me. And given that the Temple was built by the Jews it strikes many people as being outrageous they can't worship there. As far as I know this doesn't happen anywhere else in the world. And until 1967 the Jews couldn't even go to Jerusalem - their very own city. And in the early 1900's the Jews could no longer even buy land in Palestine. And centuries back no Jew was even allowed in the land of their forefathers. So things are improving. The Arabs have Mecca (which they are destroying) so let them go there. Leave that one tenth of one percent of the Arab/Persian Middle East to the Jews who belong there.
You know this Golan business sounds unfair - it's Syrian land after all, isn't it? But one issue here is that Syria refused to enter negotiations with Israel like Egypt did when it got the Sinai back. So if you are sworn to Israel's destruction and won't talk about the land you lost while attacking Israel - then I for one are not going to worry about Trump recognizing the Golan as Israel's.
Then you have the demographic issue. I suggest all of the land is Israeli/Palestinian but you declare which group you belong to - and vote only for your own state within a state. But then, how can Israelis stop Palestinians inviting Iraqi's and Iranian divisions onto their soil?
Well if you "integrate" the Palestinians then you have a problem come election time. You might find the Knesset is mostly Muslim and your Jewish state might have just come to an end.
Even without the right to vote the Palestinians would be better off under Israeli leadership than under Hamas.
No it is not ! How long had it been under Syrian rule ? 20 years. How long is it under Israeli rule ? 50 years. In addition, Syria took over Jews owned land in the Horan, which is another area near the Golan. So no, the Golan is Israeli. End of story.
I fear that the issue with nukes is that with few exceptions, you can't stop nations from acquiring them. The role of other nations in Israel's nuclear weapon program is not known - Israel doesn't acknowledge even having nukes.
Of course Israel has nukes. In that part of the world you certainly need them. But the Israeli government neither denies or acknowledges having nukes. In all other Middle East countries a guy like Vanunu would be tortured and killed.
We know Israel has nukes - and we know that France and the US aided and/or abetted them - as was the case with South Africa.
Good. We should support the only tiny strip of land in the region where it is safe to be Jewish, Christian, gay, atheist, critical of government/religion, or have an opinion of your own. As long as leaders keep Palestinians angry and primitive, it will be necessary to contain them.
I quite like your novel approach to this issue. Well done. That "strip" is just 0.01% of the Middle East, and the Arabs have lost their mind over the fact that it has returned to Jewish hands. And not just Jewish hands - millions of Arabs happily live there too - free from the corruption and violence of Palestinian society.
Because the original UN mandate that created the state of Israel called for a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as it's capital. Israel's actions, aided and abetted by the USA, has rendered the two-state solution impossible.
