I have not had to / gotten to cut lawns since I was in 8th Grade back in the Summer Of Love in the 1960's.

You need a good lawn mower, preferable one that catches the grass as you cut it.

And you need a good trimmer, the kind made from fishing line that was invented back in the 1970's. Back when I trimmed lawns I had to use hand sheers.

I would never get fake grass.

Real grass smells too good and is too much fun to care for.

Depending what region you're in, if it's green and it gets mowed, it's called a yard. If it's green with tire tracks and gets mowed, it's called a driveway.

It doesn't matter if it's grass or weeds, as long as it's green. ;)

    I've got a moss killer/weed killer/lawn feed coming from Amazon.co.uk (UK branch of Amazon.com)...
    If it's a weed, I'm weeding it.
I'm also doing the same to a thistle in the lawn, but I'm allowing the thistles in the flower bed because they would make William Wallace proud; it's big, it's beautiful, and I like it because they're a UK flower/weed.
I've got English Roses (red scented) - and other varieties of rose bush) and Scottish Thistle (growing anyway, I just keep them off the lawn).

    Why I do my garden...
Because some of the neighbours don't.
It might be because they are unable to themselves or it might be rented flats/where the landlord doesn't care, it might be a family who don't care or whatever, but you could tell.
There's one Muslim family, friendly enough, and it is a family of immigrants my immigrant neighbour doesn't believe in because he says 'there's only one man and he has multiple wives...' - (IDK if that's true, but at least they do their garden).
This is not a slur at my neighbour, love him, does his garden too, but whatever he can say about that Muslim family, no one can say that they don't do the garden.

Might do a SWOT analyses of the local area for gardeners and landscaping and see if I could start selling gardening since my neighbour asked me to trim something for them.

Ah, yer across the pond. :)
I've got some thistles here (SE USA) that would make ye proud. My neighbors aren't as pleased, as the wee seeds like to travel far and wide.

Aerated the lawn today, it was compact because it was winter 2 weeks ago...
Entering a dry spell though with 61 degrees (Fahrenheit) and I don't have a sprinkler system.
I have field grass, mowed it twice this year, the first mow since winter, 2 weeks ago, and another mow this week.
They say it won't rain for 60 days, and it's going to be hot, and August will be wetter than April.
Where I am, Urban GB in South London with all the traffic and jumbo jets in the skies all dumping pollution into me and my garden; (trains are electrical though so are the trams/trolleys) - It gets nice and warm and sunny in the UK, especially in the city... But it's always a dry heat in the UK.

Treated my lawn with grass feed weed killer before that storm the week before last, cut it two weeks ago, and it being Sunday, I cut it again today; that lawn feed/weed killer makes my lawn look greener.
I even mowed in lines today! (first, but now my lawn has a pattern).
    I'm impressed.
